Five Great crochet projects with both scarf and hat patterns – directions are for use with worsted weight yarn (4)
I like to get a head start on holiday gifts that I make by hand. I was looking for some patterns which I could use worsted weight (4) yarn with as I have a lot of that in my stash. These projects are set up for exactly that weight of yarn and for using a single color. The stitch work will stand out much better in one color than in a multicolor project. There are five unique looks to these projects and I am having a lot of fun making them. The stitch work is what I would call advanced beginner and could be a good way for a beginner to take a step forward in their skill level. The projects are: basket weave, woven stitch, two stitch, fisherman, and braided. Each have a matching scarf and hat.The instructions are all written crochet as there are no graphs/charts included. That works for me as I learned crochet through written instructions but if you are looking for the visual chart, this may not be a book that you will want to pick up.The crochet terminology is all US-based but there is a conversion chart to international crochet as well. The yarns used are listed in the back of the book and are yarn lines that are easily and readily available.

Very nice patterns
I really like this book because it looks written well, it's in bold font, and in large print. The hat and scarf patterns look great. I haven't tried them yet but I'm looking forward to trying one of the patterns soon.

Interesting but complicated designs
Some of the designs are pretty simple and straightforward but the other ones are a totally different story. Still, I'm glad I got the pattern book. Hopefully it'll challenge me to become better at crocheting. NOTE: for the last hat I didn't flip up the brim as I should have. It's much cuter with the brim.

The best book for crochet hats and scarves, ever.
Not really, but it's a good one, for sure.My sister made me the fisherman's hat in the color shown, and I loved it.Had to buy the book so I could make more, in different colors. There are only four hats and scarves, but they are so different from each other, each one very attractive. Now, all I need to do is learn how to crochet, and block out some time.Hahaha...

Great Directions and Photos
Was a bit disappointed in the size of this paperback. I thought it contained ten hat patterns but it contains five hat and five scarf patterns. I didn’t read carefully enough. Lots of great pictures. Easy to read directions. Overall I’m very pleased with this purchase.
