This has been one of my best buys. Kept me warm when temperature was near zero. Wind and rain resistant, also comfortable with temperatures in the lower 60’s.

I am 5' 11" and 200 lbs and went with the large after trying on a medium at a local store. The medium felt like it could work but I wanted a slightly more relaxed fit to accommodate layers. I am glad I went with the large. I have a full range of motion without anything pulling or being taut. Both the inner sleeve elastic and the outer sleeve fit me perfectly, although due to the nature of the sleeves you have to mess with it to see your watch and get it back in place. It is both lighter and thinner than I would have imagined given how warm and wind-resistant it is which is nice.It does have a nylon shell which, while probably very durable and abrasion resistant, is not the quietest material out there. If you're actually out working with it on, the sound falls off your radar fast but if you're standing outside in silence, you may be surprised by how loud it seems as you move your arms around, especially with the hood up.There are plenty of winter jackets around the $200 price point, but if you're looking for durability, light weight, and range of motion, this one is tough to beat from my viewpoint.

This was a really stressful decision for a few reasons,1) Is it going to be too warm?2) Is it worth the extra cost?3) Will I regret it later on?So Im a fairly cold person typically will be under a blanket if the air is on and the outside temp is under 35'c and anything under 20'c is too cold.So why would someone that lives in Australia want an extreme weather coat? well simply I didn't but I did not really want the traditional style Carhartt shell.So to address the questions1) For me personally I do not think so, obviously it may if I'm exerting myself in mild cold conditions but I have also walked around canberra in a heavy coat all day hung over and not been hot. Honestly it may so I unzip or use a different jacket.2) Obviously we all would love to pay less but in the forefront you are paying for the name 'carhartt' and its good will but also 3M have their proprietary part so its going to jack up the price. We all know Carhartt is expensive and frankly all things aside they do make a decent jacket. I wanted the style that is the price I had to pay for it. All things considered anything that does its job is worth the money, but you are also paying more for the proprietary elements of the jacket.3) US$169.99 (AUD$265.00) yeah it is likely the price.What truthfully made this stressful was the product not being available in stores near me and the struggle to find a truely objective review which encompassed different demographics views on the coat, nothing really hit the nail on the head for me thus making it the decision confused. Ultimately it came down to Material, practicality, versatility, weight and durability...I think jacket will be worth it in the long run and I may have regretted the 140 because its just bulky but each to their own.PROS- Appearance looking modern- Weight- Zipper is easy to use unlike others- Material Cordura shell should hold upCONS- Made in India, sorry carhartt but be proud and have these products made in the USA- Generalised information and poor support, being from Australia I find extreme cold anything minus below 32'f. Carhartt just dont seem to give too much and wont answer direct questions about their products which is hard when you cannot see the item.- Zipper not sure it is around for a long time does not seem quality even though it works fine.- Cheap additions of Velcro on internal pockets think it detracts- Length it will ride up and sits snugly so make sure you purchase a coat if you want length the extra $20 is worth it..- Not Stealthy you do get the nylon noise, dont swing your arms and its a bit quieter.This is a weird review but really what I am saying is one jacket isn't going to cut it, this is my wind, damp and cold weather jacket, I have sherpa truckers for light weather, A&F coats and jackets for more formal and such so this isnt going to be an everything jacket!, be realistic follow the basic guides and you should be fine.Warmth is a personal thing so you pretty much have to buy it and try to know, I would suggest focus first on the material you want along with the athletics that will make the decision easier.Carhartt isnt ever going to be cheap and yeah I think this jacket is expensive but if it serves me well then it was worth it, if not then it was not..Carhartt jackets have laster for a reason so consider all and if you can afford it why not but have more than one option.This is my personal opinion and you should consider your personal needs as they will differ from mine.
