API MELAFIX Freshwater Fish Bacterial Infection Remedy 8-Ounce Bottle

This stuff works great for healing sick fish, it doesn't change the water color and has a nice smell too. I had great results!

My black moor goldfish accidentally got stuck in the siphon when my son was cleaning the tank and it damaged his eye. I put him in a nursing tank and added the Melafix and within 4 days his eye was completely healed. Amazing product!! The water did turn cloudy and murky with the medicine in it but I just monitored the water with test strips and as long as it was good then I continued the treatment.

This product really worked as described! I am a newbie fish owner, so I have very little experience taking care of my goldfish. However, I noticed that he had some scales fallen out after having him for less than 1 month. I didn't know how he had a few of his scales fallen out since he was in a 30 gallon tank. I have few ornaments in the tank, and there weren't any sharp objects as well. I did notice that he loved to puck on corners and squeeze behind the sponge a lot, so I assumed it may have been from that. So, I went online and started reading up on how to take care of my goldfish and how to help him grow back his scales or prevent more from falling. At this time, I also wasn't sure if he had other diseases as well since this was my first time taking care of a fish. So, I saw and read several reviews on this product where previous customers and experienced fish owners wrote about it helping their fish, as well as, preventing diseases and other ailments. I thought I gave this item a try. It was one of the best products I've bought for my fish. It really helped him healed his scales. I noticed the area where his scales were missing darkened and turned fleshy again. In about 1 week or so, I noticed the area started growing scales already. I am very happy with this item. However, this product is very strong. I have a small, young goldfish in a 30 gallon freshwater tank, with a 50 gallon Aquaclear water filter system, and following the dosages for this product for a 30 gallon tank, I noticed my goldfish acted very agitated to this product. His eyes also started bulging out more. After observing this, I did 25% water change and used half the given dosage. I think this amount was more tolerable to my baby goldfish. I also noticed that my fish scales and fins became silkier after a week of usage. I'm really happy I tried this product out. I would recommend a lower dosage if you have smaller fish. I also recommend to do at least 2 days 25% water change every time you use the product.

I have used melafix for years with good results. I give it 4 stars instead of 5 due to the horrid instructions. If you follow the instructions as written they will have you massively overdosing your aquarium with the stuff. My advice is dose it ONE time then wait 7 days do water change etc. Even a half dose would probably work ok.

My betta fish is dramatic (this is a joke, love my little dude) and elected to be fine one moment then have crazy fin rot / nipping at his fins a few hours later, this fixed him up right away! My little guy is now happy as can be, and fins are doing great! It was easy to use, and it’s a good sized container! Unlike the small overpriced ones in stores, this will actually last an entire medicine cycle. Even more than one! It’s not very cloudy. You can see its difference in the water but it disperses quickly. Very safe. It helped him a lot he’s in much better health! Bottle looks secure and was packed well.

Fish showed no improvement after a month of dosing

I'm watching a coworkers betta while they're out of the office for the summer and could tell he was showing the early stages of fin rot on his top fin. I am paranoid of him dying on my watch since he's not mine and also I've grown attached to him.I got this medication and was pleased it's natural/tea tree-based but I've read (and heard horror stories from friends) about even natural medication killing their fish - most medications have oils, making it hard to breathe for them and ultimately causing death. To be extra safe about him getting oxygen, I also bought & put in an air stone and made sure the bubble output was high -diffusing microbubbles, and adjusted the pump output to not be too strong in order to not overwhelm the fish since bettas don't like too much current/water disturbance. The medication is working, and he is also seems happier than ever with a lot more activity and is actually using his tank objects, unlike before! If you're worried about the medication/oils, make sure to get an air stone that doesn't have bubbles too large - the tinier the better for oxygen diffusion!
