Modern TImes Call For Modern Doorbell Chimes
This doorbell chime looks very modern. It is a bit on the bulky side though. It is quite a bit bigger than the one I replaced it with. Installing the unit was very easy. First, you mount it to the wall. Then you connect two wires to one of the 3 screws (check Youtube to find detailed video instructions on how to install the chime).I doing a replacement. A new install is a whole different story and outside of my scope of expertise. With a new install you will need to also purchase a 16V transformer and there are a lot more steps involved in the installation..I have an Arlo video doorbell and this bell works seamlessly with it, without have to use anything else or buy any additional devices. It worked right out of the box with my doorbell. It has the capability of controlling two separate doors with distinct chimes. The chime is not very loud, but I still have no problem hearing it while I am awake. A night while my bedroom door is closed may be a different story. But I do not expect anyone to be at my door at that hour anyway.I like my new doorbell chime. It goes with the modernization of my home. You should be able to install it your self due to the low voltage that you are dealing with and the few simple steps need to install. I am very happy with my purchase and give this product my stamp of approval.

Decent basic chime for Ring Doorbell Upgrade
I upgraded my old unknown brand doorbell chime (cover was long missing prior to my home ownership, could not locate makers mark on unit and it was pretty badly abused with dents and such) with this new one just to ensure compatibility with the new Ring Doorbell system I was installing, which necessitated the install of a new transformer. The existing chime seemed to work with the new transformer, but since it has no cover and aforementioned damage (plus different volt and VA levels than the new transformer), it seemed prudent to install this one. At first it buzzed when wiring was connected, but after I realized I needed the little connector box (Ring Pro Power Kit) that was hiding in my Ring doorbell packaging, I connected it to the trans/front terminals and buzz was gone. Strong solid chime the instant my fat fingers tough the button on the Ring doorbell (after setting the chime type and enabling chime in ring app)This was a fairly basic model and seems to perform well. No volume control (although felt can be added or dampeners to chime bars manually in a DIY volume limiting approach). Worth the money for me to know the new chime is going to work well with the new transformer.

Pleasant but not particularly loud chime
Nice doorbell chime, pleasant sound. I took off 2 stars for the volume. While it works okay for the main floor of my small home, the volume isn’t adjustable and it isn’t loud enough to be heard on multiple floors or if there is significant background noise (e.g. music playing). I can’t hear it in my basement and it definitely would not work for a larger home.

Contemporary replacement doorbell chime
Replaced an old wooden covered door bell chime with this contemporary style from Broan-NuTone. Although the cover on the chime is plastic it is durable and I would expect it to last for many years due to the device hanging on the wall. My old chime cover was wooden and that would have been the norm back in the day. I probably would end up paying more for chime constructed of wood or metal in our current market. Mechanically speaking, replacing a door bell chime is easy as you are only dealing with various screws and a couple of low voltage wires. Not much has changed in regard to the internal components of the chime as it appears almost identical to the old chime. The chime cover does sit slightly off the wall but that is to be expected with many mechanical chimes configured this way. The cover on the chime has to make space for the internal components therefore the cover is designed intentionally to allow clearance. The chime is a proper two note "ding-dong." The chime Looks good on the wall and sounds good so that fits my needs.

BROKEN ON ARRIVAL
Purchased this item to allow me to add an additional door bell to my back door. Chose the Nutone Two-Note Surface-Mounted Door Chime as it most closely matched what I had installed. Finally got a nice day to do the install, but when I opened the chime I found it was broken. The attachment holding one of the chimes in place was snapped off and in the bottom of the box. No way to repair and make functional. The disappointment of not being able to complete the planned project was further compounded by the fact that it now outside the return window. Though it is not a significant amount of money in the scheme of things, it just adds to the frustration.Lesson of the day...open and inspect all packages from Amazon at the time of receipt, even if it does not appear to be damaged.

It works
I needed to replace my old 5V unit to handle a new doorbell camera. This one is an exact duplicate (except for the cover) of the original chime that came with my 30-year-old house when new. I have no idea if it actually IS identical, inside, to the old one that still works, but I didn't want to take the chance that it has some invisible upgrade that makes it safer or something. Now that I got the proper 16V transformer installed, it works fine. Just like the old one.
