Express Accounts Accounting Software (PC/Mac)

This has lots of functionality but nothing simple for a sole proprietor. It is not intuitive. Just way too robust for a really small company.

It has no spell check function!! Buyer beware!

Thank goodness I understand the accounting process because making corrections to entries on this software can be quite challenging. If you have to reverse an entry or correct an amount, you basically have to find every journal entry and delete it and make sure you did not miss anything. It's not as simple as voiding an entry. I'm the treasurer of our swim team and decided to stop the manual bookkeeping process by using an accounting software package. I chose Express Accounts because it seemed so simple but if I didn't understand the whole debit and credit process and the kinds of journal entries that are created, then I would have screwed up big time with our accounts. I find myself constantly viewing the Journal entries, and the Balance Sheet in order to ensure that our balances are correct.For example, I entered an accounts payable and then a payment for that entry. The amount was wrong so I started by voiding the cheque. You'd think that by voiding the cheque, the whole payment would have been deleted or reversed also. It was not. So I had to find the journal entry for the payment and delete that. Then I had to delete the original accounts payable journal entry. Then I realized that when I was applying payments to accounts payable, the Accounts Payable account was not being debited so I had to go in and manually edit every payment made so that the Accounts Payable account would have decreased accordingly. This whole explanation is probably confusing -- it was confusing to me too. Again, thank goodness I have some bookkeeping background. This is NOT for the inexperienced bookkeeper.

A reasonably simple software package, inexpensive compared to other more popular accounting packages. Doesn't have all the bells and whistles as the others, but for our small organization or even small business it fits in nicely. Did have one issue, but was quickly and courteously resolved by the customer and technical service departments.

I used DacEasy Accounting for years, but when Microsoft stopped supporting XP and I upgraded to Windows 10, I was no longer able to use this very serviceable software. I've been in the hunt ever since, until now. I tried AME, SageOne and Wave. Looked at GnuCash. I was not satisfied with any of them, and quite, frankly, I detest the software as service in the cloud idea. I don't like paying for stuff over and over, and when the programs have problems to boot, I feel doubly ripped off. So, I saw this software on Amazon and decided to try it. The software manual is slim on letting you know what the program is doing with your input, so I had to experiment with it a bit. Once done with that, I set up a second time, backed up everything and have produced 6 months of financials in two days with it. The program is simple and I love the absolute control I have in making entries. The program produces all of the documentation my small corporation needs in a format this is easily understood. We both sell products and service, and this package services both. I was able to set up a completely custom chart of accounts. I sent off questions to NCH, and received a prompt answer to my first email. I had one other question, for which I am waiting for the answer, that I trust will arrive next week. It works well with Windows 10. The price is very fair indeed for a stand alone product that performs well and does not require annual licensing. I highly recommend.

DID NOT GET A CHANCE TO REALLY TRY IT OUT BUT IF YOU KNOW WHAT YOUR DOING SEEMS GOOD.

The Express Accounts Plus program is exactly what I was looking for. Easy to setup and easy to use. I had a few questions at first and the customer service responded quickly. I am pleased with what I received!

Good product, good tech support, but not so easy to use.
