Love these lamps
These lamps themselves do not break like so many ceramic lamps we've had did. They look spectacular. They are great outside where there is a breeze. We switched from candles because our large thick candles always got black and sooty looking on the tops -- and the wax would run haywire at times. The tops never burned evenly. Oh dear. So what a godsend these oil lamps have been! Great for outside in the dark, beautiful glow from them. Great on the dining room table, too. Easy to care for. Tres elegant! It is fun to set a beautiful table.

Excellent lamp for kerosene aficionados
Excellent lamp for kerosene aficionados. Extremely beautiful and well-made. The round wick configuration requires more care as far as keeping the wick properly trimmed before each use; requiring the owner to be familiar with the use of kerosene lamps. Not for people unfamiliar with the use and care of kerosene lamps. Very happy to find that the Danforth company also provides very reasonably priced replacement chimneys and wicks for the lamp.

Beautiful Craftsmanship. Smaller Than We Imagined.
We, too, purchased this Danforth pewter lamp after watching the How It's Made episode. The price through Amazon is significantly less expensive than purchasing through the Danforth website because of free shipping. It's smaller than we thought it would be because size reference pictures were very difficult to find online prior to purchasing. It's 1/2 to 1/3rd the size of an Aladdin Genie III lamp.Pros:- Contemporary styling. The flame on top of a hollow, round wick is a sight to behold.- Beautifully manufactured. The font is precisely finished to a satin sheen. The burner is a highly polished silver. The threads on the burner-to-font connection are clean and tight. All parts fit together perfectly.- The round wick and center draft result in the same amount of light as 7 to 10 single-wick candles. Its brightness is uncomfortable to look directly at when it's set to put out the maximum amount of light.- The chimney on mine is easy to remove and replace during lighting. It's also quite secure. (I know some have to adjust the metal tabs because they are too tight.)- Low, stable design. Easy to carry around by the font once it's lit.- Holds a surprising amount of fuel.- Burns quite nicely and cleanly with my kerosene-based (non-paraffin) fuel. Also burns well with Ultra-pure.Cons:- The wick adjustment knob doesn't have any real knurling on it, so it's a little difficult to get a purchase on it to raise and lower the wick.- The wick on our lamp was not trimmed properly before leaving the factory, so it burned very irregularly. I had to trim it so that it was perfectly round and even at the top.- Ours arrived with a circumferential manufacturing scratch on the glass around the bulbous portion of the chimney. (Checking with customer service). Edit: Danforth sent us another chimney, no questions asked.- One fuels this lamp by unscrewing and removing the entire burner and pouring fuel into the font. After the first fueling, subsequent fueling will be a little messy because the wick tail will drip fuel.We like it and plan to purchase additional ones in the series.

The perfect slow brilliant burn
This is my third Danforth lamp, and I love them all. I wasn’t expecting the tall chimney but it’s beautiful and balances the look. Filling is a nobrainer and adjusting the wick is just as easy. I find them a good safe way to duplicate soft candle light without the smell or wax. The finish is flawless. The packing was perfect.

Wonderful lamp that would make a great gift
The quality is excellent. You do need to adjust the tabs that hold the chimney so that it sits perpendicular and can be easily removed or inserted. I purchased a second one of these about a month after the first one. I may buy more. I use them often and they are great during power failures. I wish they put out more light but for the size of the wick it seems to be adequate.

You'll burn through oil
Only because you love this lamp so much, you'll want to have it burning at every opportunity. Easy to fill and operate with pretty solid mechanisms. Gives off ample light to navigate around your home in the evening.

Very nice oil lantern, bright light output, must buy if you collect lanterns
I really like oil lanterns and own a few brass, and plenty of antique lanterns. Decided to buy a Danforth lantern due to the style and looks, this lantern puts out a really nice bright light. Has a very pleasing look and feel, the burner is well made compared to many that I own, very solid.I really like the looks of this lantern and especially like the glass globe design and functionality.Con: arrived with a dent.. really seems the quality control at Danforth is all hype since this dent happened during the manufacturing process based on the packing and the way the dent looks. The wick adjustment Knob is too thin and very hard to turn, a thicker knob or coin edge would make turning the knob easier but this is a problem on almost all oil lanterns.Overall a nice lantern with a reasonable price based on the fact that all quality lanterns are in the same or slightly higher price range. I do plan on buying a few more of the Danforth designs as I really like the look of pewter in a lantern and the symmetry of the base and globe.
