Q: Can i use my tv (vizio) remote to control the audio of this sound bar?

It actually depends on your TV, not your remote control. If your TV has an HDMI input that supports "Audio Return Channel" (ARC) then the Sound Bar will be turned on and off when your turn the TV on and off. Also, the volume of the sound bar will be controlled via the TV volume control. The HDMI input on your TV will be labeled HDMI (ARC). You will connect one end of an HDMI cable to the HDMI (ARC) input on your TV and the other end of the HDMI cable to the HDMI OUT (ARC) input on the sound bar. Complete directions on how to accomplish this task is provided in the YAS-108 Owner's Manual (provided). If your TV does not have an HDMI (ARC) input, the are other Sound Bar control options described in the Owners Manual. Mine is connected to the TV HDMI (ARC) input and everything works fine. When you are not watching TV, the sound bar Bluetooth connection allows you to connect audio Bluetooth devices to the sound bar. I connect my phone and my Alexa Dot to the sound bar for excellent audio.

You can hook up with optical and adjust volume with Yamaha remote, or hook up with HDMI and, if your TV supports ARC, control the speaker volume with your TV remote (or the Yamaha remote, or the phone app).

Q: What is the difference between the yamaha yas 108 and the yas 107 soundbars?

Comparing the spec sheets, I see two small differences: Expanded HDR support. HDR10 & HLG on YAS108 vs. just "HDR" on the YAS107. Bluetooth v5 on the 108 vs. Bluetooth v4 on the 107.

Q: How do you put the yas-108 into pairing mode? my phones can't see it.

Pages 31 & 32 of manual explain pairing process: 1) Press Bluetooth as input source on sound bar remote, 2) Enable Bluetooth on device/phone and a list of Bluetooth devices should appear, 3) Choose YAS-108 Yamaha (or Yamaha AV) and if a passkey is required enter '0000'.
