Solid book on subject
It's hard to find a good history of technology book. These aren't big sellers so there is less competition to produce them and after awhile they get outdated. This is an updated version of the previous text. It follows the history of technology in the USA chronologically and topically from the founding of the country to the present. It is strong on the pre-1900 history plus has good chapters on the automotive and aircraft industries. It is weakest with household appliances, building construction, and HVAC which are all almost non-existent (the reason it is not 5 stars). The chapters are more interesting than most technology books and it has a social narrative unlike some books that just cover technological advances topically. It is a good choice for the classroom, especially if the instructor can supplement some of the topics listed above.
