The Animator's Sketchbook Diary – 13 Oct. 2015

As an animation student, this is such a cool sketchbook. It's got separated sections for your own character design, environments, storyboards, and pages of advice, tips and stories from professional animators! I am so excited to start using it for my own animations!! If you know an animator, new or not, this is a pretty cool thing to get them

I took a chance on this item, buying it on release day with no reviews or product description listed. Initially I had expected a sketchbook filled with contribution from animators as well as commentary on some of the sketches.Upon receiving it, I realised that you are meant to fill it with sketches and commentary of your own. It's a pleasant surprise, notebooks are kind of my thing. Writing in one endorsed by Pixar kind of makes you feel like a rockstar! :DThe book is split into five different sections.Concept - It's only a few pages long, but has quotes and sketches to inspire you with your concept. It appears that this book is designed for one project.Story - This section takes up 1/3 of the book and is basically a series of storyboard templates, introduced with quotes and sketches to give you an idea.Colour Script - A short section for you to colour in a few of your scenes. Again it has storybaord templates.Characters - A series of blank pages for your imagination to run riot and draw up the characters that occupy world!Worlds - Pretty much the same as above but for drawing locations, settings etc...There is also a small index at the back for you to fill out as you go along. All the pages are numbered..Needless to say, this book is a departure from what I expected, but it's certainly welcomed!

Bought for grandsons birthday and he’s thrilled with it

A really useful book, but I am SO glad I read the reviews before I purchased. So as the title suggests this is a sketch book, not a book about Pixar's animation. There are some handy hints and guidance within this book and several examples of Pixar's own work throughout the pages. It's essentially a reference guide for aspiring animators and for that reason I found it really useful. It is really important to know what you're buying though, so as to avoid disappointment. This is definitely a book that you have to work for and it puts all the responsibility for being creative in the hands of the creator. As it should be.

I've read a few reviews of this book where people have been disappointed that this is a blank sketchbook. I purchased this before I saw any these reviews, and the reason I bought it was because this is a sketchbook. It's not just any sketchbook though. It is a sketchbook to help you make your own animated short. It has separate sections for each process of production. It includes inspiring quotes from Pixar animators and storytellers. It also has a few pages of artwork from the Pixar films.PLEASE NOTETHIS IS NOT AN 'ART OF PIXAR' BOOK. IT'S A SKETCHBOOK FOR YOU TO DRAW IN.

Love this little sketch book, it’s full of little guidance notes for any up and coming animators! The pages are all really well designed and interesting, grabbing your imagination from the start. My son will love this I’m sure.

I bought this for my daughter, who is studying Animation. She was thoroughly delighted with it.

I thought this would be a book full of pixar creators sketches for the films as they were made, a good gift for any pixar lover. Instead it Is infact a sketchbook which is even better, the book aims to inspire fans imagination and allows them to become the creators with helpful quotes

My friend just graduated GT and is on her journey to become a Pixar animator. She absolutely ADORED this little gift. If you have any sort of artist in your life, of any age, but especially one interested in Pixar THIS IS THE GIFT TO GIVE THEM! It’s adorable, amazing for the price as it included sketches from all kinds of movies, but also allowed any artist their own “template” to draw. It’s beautiful :)

A good workbook... not to be confused with an art book

Desde que compre el libro de bocetos de pixar (Ya que son algunos bocetos de varias películas suyas y casi todo el libro esa en blanco para dibujar nuestros propios bocetos), Me gusto por que llego un día después de la compra y aunque vino un poco arrugado en la portada, me encanto. Muy recomendado para un dibujante principiante :).
