WORKS VERY WELL
I bought one of these timers this spring for my flower beds and hanging baskets so I wouldn't have to hand water in the extreme Nevada summer heat. I skim reviews before I order certain items, this timer had mixed reviews so I took a chance and im glad I did. The timer is very easy to hook up and program. I used high quality alkaline batteries hoping to last from spring to fall and they did just that. My timer is actually on a larger system with bypass fertilizer injection and a water scale reduction portion for the evaporative cooler, I have a 5 micron 10"x2.5" pre-filter for the entire assembly including the timer, pic included. Zero failures of any type. With the 5 micron pre-filter there was no sediment clogging or otherwise affecting timer function, we are on city water. I highly recommend using a similar filter system whether you are on city or well water, next year I am going to try a 1 micron pre-filter for my systems. I am putting in a raised bed vegetable garden next spring and I have already bought two new timers for that system and it will have the same pre-filter and bypass fertilizer injection. Very highly recommend this timer.

Great timer - and its cheap!
Fantastic little timer. I had a leak in my pool that took several weeks to repair. So I bought this timer to add water to my pool every day. It worked great! Very easy to program, and it had a really easy-to-use manual mode where I could add more water if the programmed amount wasn't enough The timer worked flawlessly.

Nice, easy to use controller for garden and yard
These are the best little controllers for areas like the garden. I have it so I dont have to go out evey day to water the garden. They are very easy to setup and work consistently no matter what the temperature or weather conditions in Florida. Only drawback is that if it rains there is no method to prevent the timer from executing a watering cycle except for manually setting a delay or turning off the water. Minor problem considering it does all the water the rest of the time. I have three of these setup around the house for various areas that need watered. Inexpensive alternative to the other brands like Orbit.

This sucks
This one sucks! The connection to the hose leaks. It's plastic. Yeck. Not worth sending back as the postage is better spent on beer.

Read carefully. Additional help on manual operation
If you read the instructions carefully it will be so much easier. It is easy to do. To do manual, push the manual button (hand). A zero will appear. Press the plus sign and hold. The number will increase, speeding up as it goes. Stop every so often and press it again immediately it will start slow at that number and increase again. This slows it down. It is not stored so you do it again but it works. Only press the manual button once or else you will be turning it on then off then on then off.

Friendly but
Update - after a few weeks I noticed the right side never went off. I called costumer service and they told me to return it . I called the factory because it says call before you return and they were no help so I returned it. I went to buy another one and now it says we don’t know when another one will be available . So forget it. I found another brand. Let me just say, Chaplin is one of two brands that are easy to understand with the buttons “left side or right side”. Can’t go wrong ! Compared to say ORBIT times who are riddled with buttons and hard to set zones Old post below This apparatus appears to be engineered for individuals who require instructional hieroglyphics on a shampoo bottle. I must confess, its operational simplicity is downright enchanting. Left valve setting? One merely depresses the mechanism labeled left. Right valve setting? Simply activate the button proclaiming right. It’s a tad plastique, but then again, so are my celestial Orbits (brand). The red color is magnificent—imbuing the device with an aura of modern, rebellious sophistication. However, despite this cascade of compliments, I must regrettably initiate a return, as the right valve refuses to open at its designated temporal interval. I am, by nature, a serial returner when a brand fails to perform its fundamental duties, yet I shall bestow upon this manufacturer a second opportunity, for its elegant simplicity has bewitched me. I have valiantly attempted to commune with the seller—via live chat, electronic correspondence, and every non‑telephonic medium known to humankind (for I do not engage in archaic voice‑to‑voice rituals). After an entire week of digital smoke signals, I have received precisely zero replies. They even instructed me to ‘call or send an email’ before initiating a return. Consider it done. Result? A resounding symphony of silence. In short: do not, under any circumstances, rely on this manufacturer for communicative reciprocity. Remain vigilant for further updates.

Great value, pay attention to the adapter.
These are a much better value than the obnoxiously priced Orbit timers. These work reliably, they also come with a hose adapter. I did not know this and when I tried to hook up my irrigation to it, surprise! It didn't fit. Thinking it was defective, I found the hose adapter on the lawn. Apparently it was not tightly screwed on. I am never buying another over-priced Orbit irrigation timer.

Works as it should
I have 3 of these because it was easier than making a while home system. It works like it should. Set the time, how often, how long and let it go! It has a rain delay setting but I’m not sure how it senses rain so I chose to ignore that feature. Some hoses leak when attached but added a gasket or rubber o-ring fixed that. I don’t feel like it slows pressure any.
