The best strong TEA

I‘ve been drinking this tea for over 10 years. I enjoy STRONG TEA. Each bag is said to brew a pot of 5 servings. I use ONE BAG in a 12 ounce cup. No, the spoon doesn’t stand upright. This is strong enough to start my day. I love it.

the best morning tea for myself. I love waking up to a cup of irish breakfast tea.

A great, bracing cup-and foil packets!

I purchased PG Tips for years from Amazon. We all know that Amazon packaging leaves a lot to be desired (cardboard tea boxes in bubble-wrap mailer envelopes is not the smartest idea that Rocket Boy devised), but this was okay when PG Tips wrapped their boxes in cellophane, because it gave the tea bags inside some kind of fighting chance to make it through the postal system. Recently, PG Tips has (or 'have' for my UK friends) eliminated the plastic outer wrap, which means that I almost always received busted open boxes of tea...and this also meant that the tea tasted like some mixture of fabric detergents that must be perpetually wafting through the air at amazon warehouses. Thompson's packages their round teabags in foil packets (40 bags per pouch), so I get the taste of tea - not artificial fragrances!

Best black tea

To open this tightly sealed package of tea is a joy! Just the aroma makes my mouth water. As a tea lover, I tried tea after tea for decades until I discovered Thompson's. This North Ireland product makes any use more satisfying and delicious. It comes with tea bags, which are handy, but I wish there was also an option to purchase bulk tea. It is likely even more delicious. I drink tea for the flavor, only secondarily for the pickup of the caffeine. My daughter, a daily tea addict, has now switched to Punjana non-caffeinated after I introduced it to her.

My new favorite Irish breakfast tea!

I think I just found my new favorite Irish breakfast tea! When brewed, this tea has a deep color and a delightfully rich aroma. The flavor is robust yet smooth, and very satisfying. The outer packaging is foil (Mylar?) to keep the teabags fresh, with a sticky tab to seal it. This package is then over-wrapped with a thick clear plastic for shipping. Inside, you’ll find unwrapped teabags in pairs, without strings. This is more eco-friendly and no doubt a bit more cost-effective. I store the entire package in a sealable plastic bag for extra freshness. Now here’s a novel way to brew a mug of tea when you don’t want to bother with your kettle: place a teabag in a microwave-safe mug and add cold water to approximately 3/4 - 4/5 full. Place the mug in your microwave oven and heat for 5 minutes at 50% power (you may need to adjust this based on the wattage of your unit, the size of your mug, etc.). When finished, remove the mug from the microwave (CAUTION: CONTENTS WILL BE HOT). Briefly stir gently, remove the teabag, then sweeten and/or add milk or lemon as desired, and enjoy! Basically, the tea steeps for 5 minutes as the water heats in the microwave, but never gets to the point where the teabag is boiled. No doubt the “tea-drinking purists” out there will cringe at this technique , but it does in fact work well!

Rocky road to my cup of tea!

5 minutes of brewing and steeping is all you need to make the perfect cup of this tea,Its aroma and scent alone are to die for, letting you know the Irish know quality over quantity when it comes to tea. Twinings should take notes, on the quality and refined essence of this beverage, for its value makes the price worth it. For a 5 - 6 minute brew time, I can’t recommend it enough. I buy it regularly.

The only tea my husband will drink

He loves this stuff - I think it has more body than most teas. (I'm an Earl Grey or Harney & Sons tea drinker, myself!) Whenever he gets low on stock, he orders more - and we'll be in trouble if they ever stop carrying it!
