Toy Shelf cross stitch
I bought this particular kit in 2008 for the birth of my first grandchild. I am not an experienced cross stitcher by any means and this was the largest project I had ever undertaken. However, it came out just as it should have and I was delighted with it, as were my son and daughter-in-law. What I particularly liked was the fact that it was suitable for either gender and so you didn't have to wait until the birth before you began sewing. I was able to do nearly all of it and then wait to embroider the bow at the top in the appropriate colour. The only downside I had was that there wasn't enough pink and I had to order more. I bought a different design for my second granddaughter, but I am back to this one for my third, eagerly anticipated, grandchild because I love it so much.

First of all I like the design of this as it can be adapted ...
First of all I like the design of this as it can be adapted for a baby boy or girl but there are quite a few negatives: the pale blue for the rocking horse is like dirty white; the two different greens are actually the same colour so the shading doesn't show; the white areas of the design (eg collars) are left as bare Aida so the area looks unfinished; the instructions say to use three strands on some of the design which this makes it look matted. To rectify all this I bought some white, blue and green cotton and only used two strands of each. I think a novice cross stitcher would struggle to make this satisfactorily.

Not for an aging novice
Lovely cross stitch set but if you have never done it before it might be quite hard. I didn't read the ad properly before buying and thought that the print would be on the actual product, meaning I just cross stitched over the design. Unfortunately you have to follow a pattern and do it from scratch on a completely plain piece of material ( not sure of its proper name, aida? )If you have aging eyes and are a novice, like me, then this might be quite daunting. Still a lovely product but not really for me.

Gorgeous present.
I enjoyed making this picture for my cousins daughter although I made a few small adaptions and I am so pleased with the results. It will look great on her bedroom wall when I give it to them at her christening and will be a nice way to remember such an important time. I loved making it and I'm proud of the results. GORGEOUS GIFT!

I received the replacement very quickly and was very pleased with the service that I got from the suppliers
I stitched Toy Shelf a few years ago! After I ordered it this time I realised that I had already worked it, so I sent it back to the suppliers and replaced it with Baby Drawers Birth Record. I received the replacement very quickly and was very pleased with the service that I got from the suppliers. I am also very pleased with Baby Drawers Birth Record as the silks are already sorted and the instruction chart very clear and easy to work from. I would thoroughly recommend the brand name of Dimensions.

lovely oresent
I purchased this to do for my new niece and i am very pleased with it as the size is bigger than i anticipated, I hope i finish sewing it for xmas as it is intended as a present. The only small grumble was the time i had to wait for its delivery which was just over 2 weeks but its coming together nicely so fingers crossed.

Exactly what I wanted
Apparently grandchildren are like buses, you wait 49 years for one then you get two in the same year so having done a similar cross stitch for my grandson, when I was told daughter number 2 was expecting I had to find something similar and this fitted the bill perfectly. The kit is easy to read, already threaded up which is a bonus and the end result is going to be gorgeous, don't buy if you are in a hurry, but if you have patience it is fantastic.

Symbols on chart do not correspond with code colours.
Really annoying that for example B will state it is code for colour 13821, yet there is no colour strands With that number. Have only just started and found this fault twice. Also the strands of thread are very limited so beware of making a mistake as you will run out of thread
