Leg Avenue Men's Deluxe XL Top Hat Costume Accessory

Ordered this for my husband's Mad Hatter costume after trying to make him one myself and failing miserably. I was encouraged that everyone said the hat was large, but for my 6'1" 230 lb husband, it was super tight. His head measures 23 1/4". For me, it fit down over my head completely, but if you're buying for a guy that has a manly build, you might have issues. I did as a previous reviewer suggested and cut slits around the hat, where the hat body meets the brim. I had to cut all the way around and then squeezed it onto a large pot to stretch it for a few days. My SIL suggested that I should have dampened the interior before I put it on the pot and let it dry, so that's an idea. He was able to wear it comfortably, in the end. The interior just looks like a honey badger got a hold of it.Other than that, it's a great quality hat. I took the red ribbon off, hot glued on a lace tablecloth and painted it different shades of green. I then added a maroon colored scarf, hat pins and the requisite 10/6 tag on one side with 2 peacock feathers, butterflies, and an old patch from a tie on the other. So you can totally customize it to your liking. He got tons of compliments on this entire costume - all made from items from a thrift store, with exception of the hat, as a base. I should have signed him up for the costume contest! LOL!

This hat is great! It’s a little mad hatter-ish but that’s why I love it! It’s a large size hat though. I have a large 23 in melon and it fits me so that’s why I rated it as running large. Great for me but maybe not for a person with a normal size head. I am using it for a comedic magic show and it’s perfect! Large enough to put a second layer of fabric to make a spot to hide my bunny lol I changed the ribbon to a pink one very easily with some Velcro in the back. That way if I need it for a different costume I can just take it off and change it out. The original ribbon is secured with hot glue that you can just peel off. The brim is movable and the hat feels sturdy enough. But I wouldn’t pack it away with things on it or against it because since it seems to be made of a thick cardboard it could warp over time. Overall very happy with this over the top, top hat.

I bought this using my wife's account, so this is actually a review by a guy. My head is about 7 3/4 in, and although most reviews claim the size is too large, it was actually a little on the small side for me (as I expected). I made a couple cuts on the sides, where the brim meets the vertical cylinder of the hat, in attempt to loosen it a little. Not sure if it helped that much. If I balanced the hat just right, I could wear it for an evening with slight discomfort, but it worked. The hat is tapered, so if I brought it down too far on my head, my whole head would go into the hat. But at that point, it's pretty much covering my eyes anyway. The quality isn't quite as nice as the image would suggest, but it's not bad for the price. I won scariest costume (not my intention) at a costume party, so I have that going for me.

Yep, it's large - big time large - but there's a way to still use the hat and it'll fit nearly any size head. self adhesive weather stripping that comes in a roll. Foam on one side, peel and stick on the other. You can find it where they sell storm door weatherstripping in hardware stores or that W-mart place. Use it around the interior of the hat (I did it in a few short strips, not continuous which seemed to fit better on the head) and you should be able to use the hat. Why go to this trouble? Because it really is a nifty looking less expensive tophat and being oversized, I think, gives it more character. The brim is slightly wired so you can shape it a little to look more like the photo and the hatband is just a flat satin ribbon which I covered easily to match the costume.

This hat is large. However, the quality is very nice. It is like a velvet material. I am using it to make a fun game for sales associates at our store. It will work perfectly for this purpose. While it is larger, I feel there are things that could be done to make the fit better (toilet paper, tape, etc.). If you are looking for a good quality top hat that may require some modifications to make it work, this hat is perfect.As you can see from the photos, in order for the wearer to wear the hat with no modifications, it had to be tilted. If you put the hat straight on your head, it will fall down. Of course that depends on the size of your head. The person in the photos wears a small in regular baseball caps. Again, if you are willing to modify the hat, it will work. The hat does not look great straight on. It actually looks better with a tilt in my opinion. Good Luck!

It's a great hat. Arrived in a timely manner, safe and sound. Quite sturdy. But it is a large hat! I stuffed newspaper in the top then put a winter fleece headband inside the brim. This kept it in place nicely. I'm a 5'9" female, average size head, and without padding it slid right down. So be aware you may need to pad to keep in place. I wore to work on Halloween, with my stuffing it stayed firmly in place for the entire day. Got raves from coworkers and customers. Lots of fun, will enjoy using again in years to come.

This may just be my perspective but I find the taller the top hat the much more intriguing and - dare I say - fancy it is. This hat fits the height quota and the material is appealing to all the senses. The red hatband around the base does not seem to be secured at all, is a bit loose, and tends to wrinkle and fold, but that is just nit-picking. Like most reviews I have seen I do agree that it is quite voluminous for an average persons cranium, but it was incredibly simple to fix so that complaint is minor. If you agree that the height of a hat is equivalent to its value then this is the one for you.

Great costume hat. Did the job. Looked great. Was well constructed.24"+ head here (big man with big hair) this was almost maybe comfortable. A LOT BETTER THAN OTHER HATS which are simply unwearable!!!

Conforme à mes attentes en terme de qualité (carton bien rigide et velours assez doux au toucher, même si fin), la taille est grande, mais parfaite pour moi : c'est donc du 61/62 de tour de tête. Ce n'est pas prévu pour être porté trop longtemps, car il n'y a pas de rembourrage autour de l'ouverture, c'est donc peu confortable. Un peu de mouse (joint pour fenêtre autocollant, par exemple) permet à la fois de réduire un peu la taille et de corriger le confort.Pour le prix, c'est "bien mais pas top", il y en a d'autres sur Amazon pour moins cher ou de meilleure qualité, mais pas de cette taille (vraiment très haut de forme, évasée vers le haut).J'en suis cependant satisfait. Je l'ai un peu "customisé" avec un bandeau plus gros et long, et un crane.

I have a big head, lol, just fit, but forms well, has a wire in the brim to help it shape. I hat has that classic look, and the size and shape are all exaggerated to make it stand out. Recommended

The hat rim was bendable which was nice but hurt the head a little. I wore it the whole day without issue.

We bought this hat as part of a costume for daughter, she has a large head, reviews indicated that the hat fits large, hence why we purchased this hat. She wears an extra large ski helmet. A great hat for big headed people.
