K&N 33-2231 Replacement Air Filter, Heather Red

Needed to replace the original filter on recently purchased BMW e46. Shopped around and looked at several brands, found these to be well regarded and Amazon offered the best price. Selected K&N as it offered a small performance upgrade, about 5bhp on my 328i but without negatively effecting miles per gallon, K&N actually claim a slight improvement! Fitting was straight forward and involved fitting a self adhesive seal to the airbox, please take time to do this properly or you will not experience any real performance improvements, but only takes a couple of minutes. The filter sits on this and the seal is formed when you put the airbox top back on, so make sure you fit it properly. After two weeks I can confirm it makes a real difference, rev's more freely and acceleration is a lot better. Over 2500 rev's engines starts to build a gorgeous roar, by 4000 rev's you will be smiling and knowing you made a great choice, along with a deep seated desire to drive through a tunnel with the windows down!!!

Worth every penny! Hopefully I should never need to replace my air filter again, so in the long run this represents a huge saving for the initial outlay of around £40. Quick and easy to fit and although I don't notice any difference to the power (and you wouldn't) I definitely notice a difference in the sound form the engine particularly when accelerating at higher speeds. It roars more and puts a smile on my face

Very easy to install. Even I could do it :)It takes about 10 mins and involves unclipping the air box lid, taking your old paper filter out, cleaning the air box lid so the seal sticks properly, peeling off the backing paper on the seal and then sticking the seal on, dropping your nice new K&N filter in and clipping the airbox lid back on.Car felt better immediately.Acceleration has definitely improved. (BMW 318i so not a fast car by any means, which makes any improvement instantly noticable)Sounds better too.Seems a lot to spend for an air filter but when you think that you will never have to buy another one it's actually very cheap.I would definitely recommend this air filter.

Doubt it has really added any performance however it's worth the price for the noise alone (lovely growl). Plus you never have to buy another filter. In my opinion much better than the cone based kits as you don't need to worry about hot air entering the inlet.

it is true what a difference took me ten mins to install when i turned the car over it was like its lungs was cleared highly recommend this you save so much on this fantastic apparatus let your car breath again WOW

Does what it says on the tin! Very easy to fit, there is a big difference in quality to the original filter.
