A good reference book

I am going on a course to gain a qualification in PAT testing for my job and this book was recommended reading before attending. Expensive but all official publications are. It gave me an understanding of what to research for the course and also a good source of reference.

The code of practice is very informative and well laid out. It is sectioned for quick reference, provided in paperback form and contains colour diagrams, sketch drawings and material. A very good point of reference fo those withing to undertake testing or wishing to catch up with the latest changes brought in at the end of 2012 in revision 4. Like all these required official sources of reference it is expensive for what it costs to produce.

The IET have done a good job it's fairly easy to understand for people with electrical knowledge and provides most of the answers to management and testing

All the reviews are true. You need this for the exam, it'll be in pieces after the day's training course and it'll be a ragged pile of loose leaves if you need it for reference afterwards. Why can't this be ring bound like an onsite guide???

Expensive for what it is but very informative and covers the subject fully.A a lot of verbiage to plough through. Not very well laid out and a lot of references taking you backwards and forwards. Used as an open book in the PAT testing City and Guilds Part 2 Exam so a lot of thumbing backwards and forwards to find the information. Good idea to mark the chapters with tags to speed up the searching. If you are new to this PASS do a good book on the subject for £20.00 that is an easier read and supports this edition. I got both and found it useful to have the two.

Definitely need to get this book if your thinking of doing the C&G Pat Testing course.... everything you need to know is in this book for the exams

The binder on mine is holding up really well. Well printed, well set out. A must have for PAT testers, I guess. Why 4 stars not 5? The price, of course. The IET have got you over a barrel and can charge whatever they want. I suppose they've sat around a table and decided that this is the absolute maximum they can charge without most people, most of the time, realising they're greedy, money grabbing sods, taking what they can from hard working people trying to do the right thing.
