First time smoking
I was unsure how much to purchase but this was an economic amount, it will see me for quite a while without thinking I've bought too much.As for the flavour and quality, well, I've still got a smile on my face and can't wait to have another go. It burned evenly and thoroughly during the 25 minutes that it took to burn through the meths in my newly purchased Callow smoker.I'd never tried smoking before but I think this was a really good wood to try for the first time. It had a distinct smoky flavour but was mild enough that it didn't overpower and I could still taste the fish. No bitterness whatsoever. To ease cleaning of the smoker, I did wrap the chips in foil then puncture it to allow the smoke to escape and this worked beautifully.I'm looking forward to more Apple-smoked Trout with this wood.

Fantastic sweet smokey flavor
Since buying a big green egg I have tried a fair few different brands of wood chips. I thought I would give these apple chips a try on some pork steaks, they turned out fantastic.Firstly I love the fact the chips come in a resealable tub I have had lots of occasions where the chips end up going everywhere due to being in paper packaging. You get a huge tub of chips for your money and the nice thing is they are big wood chips not tiny flecks like I've found with other brands.I used a handful of these apple chips for these pork steaks and it really added a fantastic sweet smokey flavor, really happy with these. This tub will last me awhile but I'm excited to try the other types of chips soon.

Good smoke and bark but expensive.
I used these to smoke some Brisket and Pork shoulder on New Years Eve. They worked perfecly and I probably used a 1/5 of the bucket. Only reason they aren't 5 stars is that for chips of wood they are expensive!

Great Smoking Chips
Great value for money, comes in a nice large tub not a ziplock back like most which is convenient. Gives a nice subtle Smokey flavour, will be buying again.

Smokin'...
OK, bought these thinking I could use them in my smoker. Read (afterwards) that my smoker needed pellets not chips. Doh. That said, I also then found out that chucking these onto our gas BBQ would add all the smoke you could wish for. They work a treat - don't put loads on, scatter them round the coals and they 100% make the food taste like an authentic charcoal BBQ with the ease of using gas. A happy accident on my part and will be using these all summer. You get loads as well. Would fully expect the one tub to see us through a full season of outdoor cooking.

Good flavour but chips need to be smaller.
Bought these as my normal, reliable brand was out of stock. These are decent quality wood chips and do provide a nice smoke flavour. An issue is that they are fairly chunky chips and not as small as other wood chip products. Iāve found that smaller wood chips work better, so was annoyed to find these chips about the size of a square inch. Also the plastic tub had gotten slightly cracked, no doubt in transit.

Smokinā BBQās
In the world of smoke BBQing these tubs of chips are excellent. Soak as instructed and follow the rituals of smoking your food.Smells great, smokes great and adds that great smoke taste to all kinds of foods.Choices of wood letās you marry up the flavour with the food you are cooking.Forget about the apron clad uncle producing charred objects with pink centres⦠take the reigns and become a smoke king š š

for the BBQ
Big box, not running out anytime soon. Make sure you soak them first in water, although next time I will be going with 'chunks' over 'chips'
