Travelon Anti-Theft Heritage Backpack

I have a smaller Travelon bag that was purchased for overseas travel but has never been the right fit for my everyday use. When my old everyday bag broke beyond repair, I ordered this backpack in hopes that it would be the same quality as the smaller bag. I was not disappointed - it is worth the higher price tag in every way. When you first remove it from the packaging, it doesn't look like it's very big, but it expands and is extremely roomy. Even when carrying a laptop, there is still plenty of room for a lunch bag, laptop accessories, wallet, keys, phone, and other daily items. The straps are nicely padded, have a lot of room for adjustment, and don't dig in at all. You can't feel the anti-theft cable that runs through them. The hardware is sturdy and the fabric is solid. I appreciate having all the anti-theft features for use when traveling or when going through areas of questionable safety. The only thing that may be an issue for some is that the canvas does not seem to have a rubber backing so it may not keep contents dry in a soaking rain for an extended time. It seems to do fine in light rain or for short duration in heavy rain, but this is probably not a good choice for outdoor backpacking or if you plan to be outdoors for an extended period of time in rainy weather.

This was a gift for my daughter for a special accomplishment--getting her teaching certificate. Now, she can load it up with school supplies for work--or whatever she needs on class trips to the city--and never worry about thieves. She'll be able to keep her mind on her students knowing her bag and belongings are secure. She loves the color (she's a bit of a fashionista) and sturdy construction (she's practical, too). We give this bag 4 thumbs up.

We purchased two of these backpacks for our 10 day summer trip in Europe this year. They backpack itself is a little on the heavy side when empty but this is because it has that anti-slash meshing so it is worth it in my opinion. The quality is very good and quite substantial. I LOVE the style and look of this backpack. It was easy to carry and didn't feel hot or heavy to me. We carry a lot of water and snacks for our family so we start out with a full load. At first, opening the zippers proved tricky but honestly, once we did it a few times, it became much easier. In Europe, when we entered places for security, it was a little time consuming opening all of the zipper locks as one feels rushed when going through security. But it wasn't enough of a deterrent for me to rate this backpack any less. The security features far outweighed any of the negatives we found long the way.

This backpack is adorable. I also love how all the zippers have the lobster claw closure so you can feel a lot safer knowing it's not going to get opened by a stranger without you feeling it. I can't imagine someone can open the closure quickly and gently enough that you wouldn't feel it. Hubby is a big sweaty guy and felt the backpack was a tad hot and sweaty on his back for our trip to India, where it was very hot, but I can't imagine this wouldn't be an issue with almost any other backpack. But the back part is not super breathable so just keep that in mind if that's really important to you. Also the backpack is a little heavier than a typical backpack of that size, so keep in mind if you have very strict weight limits, you will not be able to fit as much extra weight in this as you might in a lighter backpack. But nevertheless, this is a great day pack for the average day wandering around and exploring the streets.

This was the perfect carry-on bag for interstate travel. Labtop was safe and easy access. We have two, good Quality. We recommend this bag to family and friends.

Enough pockets/zippered areas for what I like to travel with on a plane. Just traveled with it to Peru, and it held everything I needed for an overnight trip to Machu Picchu. Did great in the Amazon rainforest too. I like all the security “extras” this bag offers. I got the blue color. Love it!

Good quality. But, a bit heavy even before packing it with personal items. A chest strap wound be nice.
