A Mad Zombie Party (The White Rabbit Chronicles, 4)

Better Late than Never!
So after way too long I finally picked up Gena Showalter’s conclusion to the White Rabbit Chronicles! While Ali’s story ended with The Queen of Zombie Hearts, the story at large wasn’t over yet. In A Mad Zombie Party, the story continues this time with Frosty and Milla at the helm.My memory was sketchy at best as to what happened in this series since I read those as ARCs. Luckily, we get a bit of a recap of what happened in the last book to see where we are now. Milla was a slayer with Ali and her crew, and had to betray her friends by working with Rebecca Smith in order to save her brother, River. Needless to say, no one really forgave her, though no one, River included, truly knew the reasons Milla had to betray everyone. Now Kat, a ghost aka witness comes to Milla and tells her that she must stay close to Frosty, that a vision from Ali showed her saving Frosty’s life. But since Frosty has been acting more in line with his namesake, you can imagine what he had to say to that. Milla was partly to blame for Kat’s death, though Kat holds no grudges against Milla, but getting Frosty to accept her presence will take some doing. That’s where Kat steps back in, if Frosty lets Milla stay by his side 24/7 and he does good deeds, she will visit him once a day and since Frosty is still heartbroken and missing her, he agrees.Frosty was pretty much on a path to self-destruction before Milla showed up, trying to replace Kat without replacing her. Spending his nights with random brunette after random brunette, but that gets put to a halt when Kat steps back in however briefly she visits.I wasn’t sure how I was going to feel about Milla. Perhaps it was better that I couldn’t really remember the series at large, for I felt like I could forgive her far quicker than I would’ve had I read this one right away. Milla has had the hardest of lives, not only did she betray everyone to save her brother, who then shunned her afterwards, but the scars run far deeper than that. She’s broken, and so too, is Frosty. I feel like that helped them to connect with one another, however slowly it happened.I loved that there was an exceedingly slow burn romance between Frosty and Milla. There was unabashed hatred—on Frosty’s part—and then slowly, other feelings began to develop, there was a sort of acceptance among acquaintance, then something like friendship came about, and then, eventually, the feelings ran deeper and oh my wow. It’s been too long since I’ve read a Gena Showalter book and I forgot how spine-tingling her romances were, because oh my wow!!!But the relationship development of the story wasn’t the only thing happening, obviously. Everyone believes that Anima is no longer a problem since its leader is without her memories, but it becomes very apparent that something hinky is going on with the zombies, something hinkier than usual when it comes to zombies! And it would seem that the evil organization is not so dead anymore and it may be playing a role in the slayers’ future.I’ll admit that the pacing to this one was a little slow, but it wasn’t at all bad! I felt like things were always be built up to something more, and they were of course. There were so many things happening in the background in this book, that the pacing didn’t bother me at all. Just life getting in the way of my reading time bothered me! Lol.What I really enjoyed about A Mad Zombie Party were the extra conclusions that were added in at the end! There are three letters from three integral characters that give you a peek at what happened to everyone in their HEA ending. Though one did present a puzzle I was DYING to know more about, but I think that was just a tiny little teaser that Gena intended! And since I read the B&N special edition, I got another bonus scene of a happy moment among the slayers. Needless to say that this book was perfect!I had missed Ali and the gang so much over these years and I never even realized how much until I started reading this one! There pretty much wasn’t anything about this book that I would want changed. It was a flawless read from start to finish and I can’t wait to read more of Gena’s books in the future!Overall Rating 5/5 stars

Perfect Ending for the Perfect Series
The White Rabbit Chronicles was one of my first zombie series, and because of this, it has always had a special place in my heart. While I was happy after the ending of the third book, as Gena ended it on a high note, I still wanted more. So when I saw the announcement that she was writing a fourth book in the series, I was over the moon. Even though this book is in Frosty and Milla's POV, it fit right in with the rest of the books and was the perfect addition to the series. I couldn't put this book down when I started it. From the very first page, Gena pulled you in and never let you go. I simply couldn't get enough of reading about Frosty and Milla. In one word, this book was AMAZING, and everyone who is a fan of this series needs to read this as soon as possible.“Let your light shine, never look back and live as if today is your last day...because it just might be.”The one thing that I loved so much about this novel was the fact that it was a journey for the characters in many different ways. Gena captured Frosty's depression and sadness over Kat perfectly, and it was excruciatingly difficult to watch a character I love so much go through something so tragic. This aspect of the book was so well written and beautiful. Few authors can make you feel so strongly about a character, but Gena definitely has that talent. Not only were these beginning chapters written so well, but Frosty's character development over the course of the story was breathtaking. I feel like Gena truly showcased her talents as an author in this story because his character was unlike anything I have ever read. And I loved every single second of it. In the previous books, we only had a vague idea of what Frosty was truly like, but in this novel we are able to understand why Frosty is the way he is, and we get to know him much better. Plus, we find out Frosty's actual name, and it is perfect!“Scars speak for you. They say you're strong, and you've survived something that might have killed others.”As much as I wanted to dislike Milla for everything she did in the previous books, I just couldn't help but falling in love with her character as well. She has had such a difficult life, and I admired her strength and general badass nature. She didn't take anything from anyone, and had such a great sass and feisty nature that you can't help but love her! However, the thing that I loved the most about her character was watching her grow over the course of the novel. She feels absolutely terrible about the things she did in the past, and she doesn't think she is worthy of any type of forgiveness. But we get to witness Camilla forgive herself and realize that mistakes should never define a person. I'll admit, when I found out that Camilla was in this book and was going to be Frosty's love interest...well I had my doubts. But let's just say, you'l realize how utterly perfect they are for each other, and will love them together right from the get go.“Real love never fails, never fades, and the greatest expression of it is giving.”We get to see all of our favorite characters return, but this truly is Camilla and Frosty's book. Gena never fails to impress me with her ability to balance the supernatural, action, and romance in her books. She never lets one aspect overshadow another, and it makes for a fun, gripping read. The ending of this book however did make me tear up because this series is officially over. Regardless, it was a beautifully perfect ending. I had a huge smile on my face while reading the "letters" and I think any reader will too. Read this as soon as you can because you do NOT want to miss out!!Happy reading :)

Epic conclusion to The White Rabbit Chronicles
Epic conclusion to The White Rabbit Chronicles. I must admit to being a bit let down when I read the synopsis of the book originally, as I wanted more Ali and Cole but it turns out that Frosty and Milla are just as worthy of a book, plus you do get some Ali/Cole action too, as well as your other favourite slayers. Really enjoyed this, the different relationships between the slayers developing was another good note. I liked that Kat and Emma appeared frequently too, because obviously, Kat is cake and it would have been so not cake had she not been in it ;)If you liked the first 3 books of the WRC then you should definately read this one :) Let your light shine!

A Mad Zombie Party [Book 4]
Excellent, you have to read the other 3 in this series to keep in line with the storyline. Can recommend these books. Gena Showalter is an excellent author and I look forward to reading all her books I have quite a few.

Slight damage but otherwise okay
This was supposed to be new but the spine of the book was damaged at the top and bottom, maybe its the way the books are stored or the way it was packaged up because otherwise it was okay just a little gutted about the spine, we all like shiny new books

should have quit at the trilogy
I wish I had stopped with the last book. Never liked Frosty and found this book hard to read as it was 50% from his point of view. The story was slow to develop and didn't really come up with anything new and exciting. It just felt like dragging out what was a great trilogy. Should have quit leaving us wanting more, if another book comes out in the series I will not be bothering.
