Many Variations of this Shoe
A little over a yer later....adding a star or comfort. I'm wearing these once maybe twice a week. They are holding up well.I started off with 3 stars; I might update as I wear them more. This is my third pair of Merrill’s Jungle Mocs, with the crisscross tread. I’ve worn previous pairs 3-4 days a week, walking mostly on city streets. This model doesn’t have the pull tab on the heel. The top heel liner is leather (?) so hopefully it won’t shred like the cloth/foam liner on pair #2 less than a year in. The rubber sole front tip on previous models chipped and flaked off in spots. As with previous models, the fit starts out tight, but the leather and elastic banding on top stretch a bit when worn often. As with previous models, the heals squeak at first, as the shoe is worked in. Give it time, it will increase in comfort.Hey, I realize companies need to cut costs, and sell more shoes. Shoes that last 4 years or more aren’t good for the bottom line. A shoe gets popular, and the company wants to cash in. But there reaches a tipping point, where a company cheapens a shoe to where folks like me bail on the brand. If this third pair is trash less than a year from now, this will have been the tipping point for me.

Not holding up to my usage demands
I walk 7-12 miles a day (per my fitbit) indoors on concrete floors, so granted I'm probably at the upper end of use scale... but I haven't had them for four months yet.The collars have worn holes in them and the white foam is showing through and wearing down. The inner leather lining of the heal is wearing and the plastic material of the heel cup is showing. I've been through the original insoles, a set of after market insoles, and am about to put in a 4th set soon. They are still wearable, and the outside is doing fine. I'm hoping they hold together internally. I guess it isn't too bad to invest $10+ a month on insoles. My last shoes were Nurse Mates but those have become impossible to find. I'd rather have those.Update: They gave up around the first week of June. The inside wore down and there's a hard plastic heel cup that started biting.

Reliable Quality
Bought these to replace some Merrell Chameleons I've worn for around 15 years. It was time. These were chosen because I needed casual shoes that could be slipped on and off easily when flying as well as when my aged body dislikes bending to tie shoestrings. I usually won't buy clothing or shoes without trying them on, but in the case of Merrell's shoes I was confident enough in their size consistency and comfort to buy from Amazon. No disappointment. They fit very well. They slip on without a struggle and are snug enough for comfortable wear right out of the box. I am sure they will only get more comfy as they get broken in, as my other Merrells have. These are nice enough for dress-up time too. I have another pair of lace-up Merrells I wear to work. I like 'em. I am a "husky" boy with fairly flat feet and these make the day's end much less painful.

These shoes fit well and are pretty comfortable, like their predecessor
The media could not be loaded. These shoes fit well and are pretty comfortable, like their predecessor. However, these shoes squeak loudly. I feel like a clown walking through the office. I have bought the predecessor to this shoe for decades. This version is trying to be more formal and is missing the rear pull strap, though there is nothing formal about loud shoes. I've gone on mile walks with them in the hopes of wearing them in and stopping the squeaking to no avail.

Not what is pictured
These might be great shoes but look nothing like what I thought I was ordering. They are not smooth leather like shown in the picture and the tread does not look the same... These shoes are not the item pictured at all. The item name, which is not actually a description of the shoe, does match what was printed on the shoe box and although the picture of the shoe ON the box and the shoes IN the box matched each other they did not match the amazon picture that I ordered from. The shoes amazon sent are rough suede with a red tab on the back. They need to fix the item picture.

My first 2 Merrell pair fitted so well and so comfortably I could wear them 2 days straight (I really did this a few times) from day 1. I swore my next pair of work shoes would be another Merrel, and I was delighted to see these on Amazon. This was an initially disappointing experience, as this third pair seemed somewhat tight and required quite some shoehorning to put on, and felt uncomfortable around the heels. However, after about a week's breaking in, now they feel as good as my previous pairs. I hope they will be as durable; I was informed these shoes are now manufactured in Taiwan (?).

Excellent while they last
Merrell is my favorite brand for footwear by far! I have purchased at least 5 different types of their shoes, and in most cases, multiple times since I go through shoes quickly. I’m a wedding photographer on the weekend and love to hike (or just be outdoors) during the week. This is the first shoe I’ve bought from Merrell that just didn’t hold up. I bought this shoe back in 2017 and didn’t even get one year out of it. The back (the heel area) just fell apart. It shredded, I guess from the constant rubbing/movement in that area. No other shoe I’ve owned has ever done this in such a short span of time. Before that, the shoe was GREAT.I bought the same shoe a year later thinking it was a one-off. Unfortunately, my 2nd pair has the same problem. I used them for *at most* 40 weddings and they are no longer wearable. The back (again in the heel area) just fell apart.Giving 2 Stars only because they were good for the first ~6-9 months.Merrell ==> pay attention to these things. It will influence your customers when they go to purchase new shoes. As a wedding photographer, shoes are one of those things that we will spend any amount of money on if it’s worth it!!Love Merrell, but DO NOT BUY THIS PARTICULAR SHOE. Too many people have the same issues.

Too narrow and the heel slips
Nice enough shoe, length fits perfectly as Merrel shoes always do for me. However with this one I found it too narrow around the arch - and I don't have a wide foot. Also the heel was always slipping - which rubs the heel raw. Returned to try a different style. On the whole I like Merrel shoes however.

I love jungle mocs
I have bought merell jungle mocs in the past and they are my favorite shoe. This is the first time I buy leather. They are slightly more firm that the others but are still very comfortable. Only downside is that my feet get slightly hot in them. Overall very good shoe.

Squeak in shoe
I’ve had many of these shoes. This set developed a very loud squeak while walking. I should have returned for another pair, too late now.
