Richards Homewares Moth Away Herbal Non Toxic Natural Repellent, 72 Count

I've used these sachets for many years, and have found them to be virtually 100% effective in preventing moth damage to the huge amount of woolen clothing I store over the summer. Of course, I don't love the expense, but, compared to what it would cost to replace moth-damaged clothing, it seems worth it. In my experience, these sachets are way more effective than cedar, and, most importantly, are less of a health risk than the old-fashioned mothballs I used way back in the bad old days. I also find the natural herbal scent pleasant and refreshing.I double-bag almost all the clothing I'm storing, in large, unused plastic garbage bags closed tightly with twist-ties, and I use a generous number of sachets in each bag. This always seems to work. I also have one zippered bag in my closet, for certain items that have to be stored on hangers; I toss a large number of sachets into that as well, and I try to keep the closet door closed as much as possible; so far, so good.....NOT happy about the plastic bags, but after unpacking my clothing in the late fall, I always re-use these bags for garbage. (Regrettably, in our city, garbage must be placed in plastic bags in order to be eligible for curbside pick-up.) I do try to be extra-conscientious environmentally in all other ways to make up for it, including avoiding any additional plastic bags by taking re-usable tote bags when shopping, etc.......

Ok, I admit that I just started using this product so I am not entirely sure how effective it is. On the other hand, not sure you could tell after a longer time unless it failed and you had moths in your clothes. But I do love the smell--it is minty and herby and I bought more so I could use it everywhere. So much better than having everything smell like moth balls.

I like the small tea-bag-like packages. Even though the price doubled since my last order 2 years ago, I reordered because I think they repel moths. I hang them on closet rods by twisting a wire bag tie around a corner of the sachet and looping the other end of the tie over the closet rod. I use 2-3 sachets in each closet and one in each clothes drawer.

I have been using this product for years, and it has consistently proven effective for my needs as well as the environment in which I live (urban apartment in NYC). I understand that it might prove less effective in a humid or country environment. I hate the smell of "moth balls", I have no separate "storage area" away from my living quarters, plus I have a bird and a cat, and cannot subject them to the noxious fumes. Very happy to find the product on Amazon AND at an equitable price.

I wouldn’t put my sweaters or textiles away for the winter without Richards moth-away. I also use the sachets in our closets and pantry. This was my fifth purchase. I replenish them once a year. It really does keep the moths away.

I don't know if it works, but it does not have a strong smell. I hate moth balls but I also hate that my nice shawls also turned into spider webs.I like it that it's natural ingredients - mostly peppermint and rosemary with lesser amounts of thyme and 2% cloves, So far my main dislike is that it takes a whole box at least to comply with 2 bags per square foot they recc'd. And I was disappointed that as someone else commented on this thread and the manufacturer implies, it is mainly for sealed contents best with something like a closed garment bag. Why do you need moth protection for these?But then I remembered I have two rosemary bushes in my herb garden, largely because it's supposed to help keep the bugs away. And the smell is way stronger than the sachets. So I cut a bunch of rosemary branches and spread them around my clothes and closets. (I'm too lazy to deal with my mint). It smells nice, double bonus. If you don't grow rosemary, you can often find them in public areas. I think they grow in a lot of places.So sorry to the manufacturer, I like your idea but want something that works with closets I open and shut.

So glad to find this product on Amazon.We had pantry moths that snuck in in a bag of Basmati rice and it took almost 2 years to fully get rid of them! We used sticky moth traps (they fold into a triangle with the sticky inside, and have a pheromone bait square which draws the moths) to catch active moths and Moth Away to repel new moths. We no longer need the sticky traps, and the tea-bag-like sachets are easily taped to the ceiling/walls/under shelves of our pantry space. We've been moth-free for 3 years now.We just moved into a new home (but it's 200 years old), and I just ordered a box of Moth Away, 72 count, to place in all the closets, pantry area, and attic. I big improvement over the moth ball smell that used to be here - and it WORKS! Highly recommended!
