Yes they smell somewhat but give them a chance!
I was worried about the smell after reading all the reviews. The pills do smell somewhat but if you really smell them, you’ll understand they smell like seaweed or algae which is the source of one of the vitamins. This is a NATURAL source of the vitamin and means that you aren’t getting something that is synthetic. For those that are also worried, they don’t actually taste like they smell. There is no flavor to them. I think the issue of the smell could be resolved if the company did these in a gel pill instead of a capsule. I like that these have natural sources of vitamins and minerals. In the synthetic form, some of these vitamins can actually be dangerous once you reach a certain level but your body needs more during pregnancy. It’s a win/win. I also like that these contain a wider array of vitamins and minerals compared to other prenatal out there. I do use the NOW brand with DHA however, those are on back order and needed a replacement prenatal. This one fit the bill for most of the same array as well as being made with the natural sources. I already take Baby and Me 2 Choline/DHA to stack my Choline intake so I don’t have an issue with the DHA being removed in this prenatal. My dogs take fish oil pills and I just added one of those to replace what the Now brand has in it. I also take Inositol and Berberine as supplements with this. For reference, I have PCOS and have had pretty crazy menstrual cycles after a miscarriage 9 months ago but also was getting extra long cycles since post pregnancy 3 years ago. Between pairing a great prenatal with the Inositol/Berberine, my body is back to a normal schedule like before I had my son. I’m now ovulating with upwards of 12-15 eggs a month (at 38 y/o) and my Reproductive Endocrinologist stated everything looks great with my ovaries and reproductive system now. I attribute this to a high quality prenatal which goes a long way to help prep the body to be ready to get pregnant. I’ll update if I do end up getting pregnant again and how long that takes me so you have a reference on these pills. I will be trying for the first time post miscarriage next month. Until then, happy healthy pregnancies and baby dust to all those trying.

Very good quality but should be refrigerated
Edit: just got a new bottle and they smell/taste awful!! Like fish.. this is the last month of my second pregnancy and Ive only used these vitamins and they never had this before. I contacted the company and they reassured me that they’re safe it’s due to a new ingredient; an algae form of DHA and that they will be working to alleviate the odor in future batches. I love the quality of these vitamins, they do not use sythetic forms of vitamins nor do they add unnecessary herbs that i wish to avoid. Mama bird adds a few herbs, and Baby and me 2 are in lesser absorbed tablet forms plus they use sythetic forms along with natural forms. So far this has been the only vitamin im wanting to trust and I am amazed at the affordability. Please naturelo, keep your supplements affordable! During pregnancy the 3 pills a day is a little difficult, I tend to gag on the third one. But i have no nausea after I take them. The only negative I had for this vitamin was the high levels of folate, B12, and biotin, I am so happy that they fixed it. Before I was pregnant I took their Womens one daily and I really liked it, I had no side effects. I just learned that they have a fish oil DHA supplement and no surprise but it seems like excellent quality for a really affordable price as well. So whats not to love? Update: The pills seemed to discolor if i didnt refrigerate them. Im not sure why, so i recommend refrigerating in case if it has oils that go bad. I gave birth to a healthy baby girl this january, shes almost 4 months old now and so alert, and very strong for her age. Not that that had anything to do with the vitamins but for your peace of mind! In the third trimester I took DHA fish oil pills as well.

True review!!!!!!
TRUE REVIEW!!!!!!!!!!! I have been taking this product consistently for two weeks. Don’t mind the messages regarding the taste or smell. There is no taste. There is a slight smell, but it is absolutely tolerable. The comments about the horrific smell is honestly exaggeration when I read those comments. FIRST, before I got pregnant, I would honestly have to take laxatives to go to the bathroom. That was my fear on becoming pregnant. I thought I was going to be so backed up. I am 35 and have two other children. By day three I was going to the bathroom “naturally” is how I tell my husband. It’s amazing what natural remedies can do for the body. I will definitely consider taking this brand as a multivitamin even after I am pregnant just because now I am honestly regulated with my digestive system. I’m going to the bathroom twice or even three times a day (not diarrhea, just normal). I can’t even tell you the last time I went to the bathroom two times in one day “naturally” I have been a vegetarian for over 15 years. so finding a product like this, I feel really change my life for the future. Second.. skin my skin is glowing! Not pregnancy glowing, like hydrated, feels so smooth, these pills naturally have given me 10 year old skin!!!! I am a normal person. I am not paid for this review. I took the time to write an exciting review because this product is amazing and I guarantee you will be happy.

New formula is atrocious
I have been taking naturelo for a few months and loved these vitamins. Tasteless, easy on the stomach, great ratios of important vitamins, and in a whole food formulation which was important to me. However the latest bottle I received in September 2020 has a new bottle design and new formula. Not only does the new formula have less choline, calcium, and DHA than the older formula (?!? Why would they reduce the amount of important nutrients??), but also the formula is utterly REVOLTING. I opened the bottle and got blasted with a disgusting whiff of rotting fish. The pills now strongly taste of fish when you place it on your tongue. My fingers smell like fish after I touch a pill. All of which is completely odd, since the amount of DHA from algae that would cause fishiness is HALVED in this formula as compared to the older, completely tasteless, amazing formula! Utterly bizarre. I've even placed the bottle in the fridge to chill them, which made the fishy smell a tiiiiiny bit less potent at first, but not significantly so. Also, tmi, but now my pee has a vaguely fishy smell to it, it's super gross. And burps as well. The old formula never gave me a single problem, and I'm really upset that naturelo has "improved" their vitamins... There was absolutely no need to change these!! I know I didn't get a bad bottle since all recent reviews I have found on multiple other sites also mention the revolting new formula. I am extremely upset and I don't think I will be continuing with these vitamins. Which is a shame because these were really, really great for me for many months. I just can't take the rotting fish smell and taste.

Still fish scent as of June 21, 2021
UPDATE: The company reached out to me and apologized for my bad experience and offered me a full refund or a new bottle which was very nice of them! I decided to give them another try and as promised the company sent me a brand new bottle. In my opinion and the opinion of my non pregnant boyfriend, they do still stink but maybe not exactly a fishy smell, just an unpleasant weird smell. I will continue to take them as my stomach can handle them and they have a lot of great ingredients in them. I know most people don't like having to take 3pills a day, but I actually prefer it so that I can space them out over several hours so my body will actually absorb the vitamins. If you take too much of any vitamin at a time, your body wont absorb it all and can sometimes be counter productive. I switched from 3 to 4 stars because of the company's excellent customer service and because I think they're a good brand overall. I know the issue with the fish smell was the DHA but I didn't realize the new formula doesn't have DHA now. They said they changed to a "different ingredient still from the sea" but didn't say they took out the DHA. I'm a little worried now because I'm just realizing I haven't been taking DHA pretty much this whole time! It's my fault for not checking the new bottle but when a company changes their formula as often as they seem to it's hard to keep track of what's in it; which is why 4 and not 5 stars. There ingredients used to be organic and now they're not, but they're still non-GMO at least which is good. If they change that in the future I will no longer take them, but for now I'll stick with them and find a different way to supplement my DHA. ORIGINAL REVIEW: I used these with my first pregnancy 3 years ago, having chosen them after hours of research and comparisons. They seemed to work fine, they didn't upset my stomach and they were easy to take. I recently ordered a new bottle on 6/21/21 and it was the new bottle with the woman in a mauve dress rather than the black silhouette (which I actually preferred). I had read that they have a strong fish smell to them now so I was a bit hesitant to order them again. I read in the Q&A section that the formula was reverted back to the old one without the fish smell, as per the manufacturer so I thought it would be safe to order again. I don't know if I just got a leftover of the fish smelling formula or if the manufacturer lied about changing the formula back but the bottle I recieved deffinatly smells like fish! Picture of bottle including lot number of fishy vitamins.

Fantastic
I am one of those crazy people who made a spreadsheet comparing tons of different metrics from tons of different prenatals before finally settling on this one as the winner. The Pros: - It provides 25 different nutrients, the maximum I’ve seen on the market - More of the nutrients meet or exceed 100%DV than most other brands - It is at least half the cost of other brands that provide the same number of nutrients - Most of the nutrients are in highly bioavailable forms and come from whole food sources - It has a higher %DV of choline (18%) than most brands (10%) - It doesn’t make me sick or constipated! The Cons: - It doesn’t have DHA, though this is easy to source elsewhere - Three pills a day is sort of cumbersome, but I got into a rhythm with them pretty quickly - Yes, there is a weird smell, I personally got used to it pretty fast and I hardly notice it anymore. I don’t feel like the scent tabs do much to mask it though unfortunately.

New formula not good, but customer service is!
Update: After writing my review regarding the updated formula, I received a replacement bottle from Naturelo. Thankfully, this bottle seems to be back to its orginal-no-taste. I’m updating my stars from 1 to 5 because of the customer service I received from Naturelo. Hopefully my next bottle after this is not back to the terrible fish taste and smell. I wish I could give this 0 stars. I’ve been using these prenatals for almost 2 years and this last bottle is disgusting! The pills are darker in color and taste/smell like fish! I have no clue what ingredient is causing this, as they are supposedly vegan and contain no fish!! I can barely put them in my mouth to take them without gagging from the smell and taste. I took them for two days and could not stop reliving the fish taste. Canceling my subscription and now on the hunt for a new prenatal.

Unpleasant smell/taste
There is a really weird fishy smell and taste to this prenatal vitamin even though there's no fish oil in it. It's probably because of the sources of some of the minerals. I give 3 stars because it is a good quality supplement and has chelated iron, folate, calcium, and choline, and it's hard to find all of those in one prenatal vitamin, but I could not get over the smell and taste to it. I honestly gagged a couple of times and had to start taking it with something other than water to cover up the taste before it went down. The serving size is also 3 capsules and I could only tolerate 2 at a time since my stomach would get upset afterward, even with taking them with a full meal. I wanted to like this, but I won't be buying more.

Excellent product. No fishy taste!
UPDATE: I wrote to naturelo about the fish taste in their latest batch. They assured me that they removed this ingredient and that they no longer taste like fish. They actually even offered to send me a new bottle. The new bottle has even more choline than the original formula and no more fishy taste!! I am back to loving these prenatals and will continue to use them for the rest of my Pregnancy. I hope people don’t let the negative reviews deter them - the new batch is just as awesome as they always have been. PREVIOUS REVIEW: I have been using these prenatals for my entire pregnancy and am now in my last few weeks. I used to love these pills. My blood work always came back great and I felt great. There was almost no taste and they we’re easy to take. Out of no where, with no warning, the price has increased and the taste is ABSOLUTELY horrible. They have a horrible fish taste and it makes them almost impossible to take. They have also removed the made in the USA label on the packaging. Very disappointed. Whyyy would they change the formula?!

They keep your levels good - they work
After having my blood tests come back I can honestly say all my levels are the best they've even been, iron folate are usually low, and iron tablets especially in pregnancy have always been needed but these are worth the money because it keeping everything at a good level. No nasty side effects, I struggle with all day sickness at the minute so swallowing isn't the easiest but I highly recommend. They don't taste of anything. Folate not folic acid is by far the best thing about these.

UPDATE: it’s changed and awful
Leaving my previous review below as I really loved this before. But updating to 1 star and honestly 0 if I could. I loved this my last pregnancy. Then I read reviews about a fishy smell and thought ah maybe a bad batch. So it’s not fishy. But it’s WEIRD. Like a weird almost vinegary acidic smell now? And every pill is coated in powder. Almost wondering if I got a bad bottle and one of the pills exploded inside it scattering powder? Like should I just not even take it? So gross. Honestly. Too bad. But I’ll be buying something else now. I did a lot of research before buying prenantal vitamins - and this one checked every box. All natural sources, easily digested, etc. I don't find they taste like anything (they smell a little I suppose, but honestly I don't even notice unless I am intentionally sniffing the bottle). Easy to swallow. Yes, you have to take them 3 times a day... but any good prenatal does not have enough of the "good stuff" if you only need one pill. Never had any issues with digestion or nausea. Just love these. Have been using them for 6 months now, and I will continue with the post natal ones after baby.
