The largest bowl is 9" across and 3 1/2 depth. The next small bowl is 8" across and 3 1/4 depth.

Q: Would the largest sized bowl be suitable for baking/mixing batter?

it would, but you would have to be a lot more gentle than I am. I prefer a slightly larger bowl for batter if it's a cake. If it's something smaller, it would work ...the bowl is a nice size. I don't use some of the sizes, but they are very hand to have - and to store leftovers with a little plastic wrap.
