A firelighting "multitool" with both magnesium bar (for tindering) and ferro bar (for sparking) is such an obvious idea I'm surprised nobody thought of this before. It's small, not fragile, easy to use, and will last for more fires than you're ever likely to have to light even in the zombie apocalypse. Great little thing to throw into a car kit / bugout bag and forget about until you need it.

I like this for its benefits of being able to start fires regardless of the situation, it feels solid however the striker could be bigger, I have large hands and the that's my gripe. Like all things, this does take practice, but once the paint is off and you have done it and got the trick this is great value for money. Great size and waterproof! Produces a fantastic spark and the magnesium helps get the initial fire going. Great starter one and easy to use once you get.the knack.

Got this as an Xmas present but already have one myself. Works pretty well. The supplied scraper/striker works well enough. A little technique is required to scrape a little heap of magnesium shavings and then ignite that with the ferro rod.

The firesteel produces some really meaty sparks and the magnesium bar is very useful for helping those harder-to-light tinder piles. The strike-bar fits, conveniently in the handle and the whole gadget folds up like a penknife. The bright orange colour makes it easy to find in your bag or if you drop it in the undergrowth.

Not worth it, just get a magnesium rod/ferro as separate pieces. The rods are coated with a layer of something you have to scratch through, and are generally too short to be effective.

Heb al jaren een magnesiumblokje met metalen strip in mijn survival kit, maar de dual-action firestarter van Life systems is echt een stuk handiger. Goed beschermd zoals een zakmes en met een geintegreerde striker. Dat ontbrak nog in mijn survival trommel. Ben zeer tevreden over deze aankoop.

Lo compré como regalo para un amigo y al verlo en acción creo que me compraré otro. Al plegarse sobre si mismo queda protegido anets rotursa y roces accidentales, es práctico de usar y basatante fácil de usar. La barra negra es la que produce chispaas y la gris hace de potenciador en caso de que el material esté humedo o sea complicado de prender. Tambien lleva una pequeña pieza metaliza que es el rascador.
