Fast delivery
As much as this book hurt me because of how much I somehow related to it, I didn't profoundly enjoy it as much as I expected. Yet it opened my eyes, made me look deeper, and left me reflecting on the painful truths at the heart of the story.

I read this for my book club: this excellent translation is sending me back to all of the Russian greats, as long as they're translated by these two!

My Favorite Dostoevsky Novel
"And in fact I'm now asking an idle question of my own: which is better-cheap happiness, or lofty suffering? Well, which is better?" Probably my favorite of Dostoevsky's work. I've read "Crime and Punishment" and "Brothers Karamazov." Comical, easy readability, philosophical, only wish it ended on better terms. Then again, that wouldn't be a Dostoevsky ending.
