Great old school electronic toy

Kids love these because they are actually allowed to play with them. Much cooler than when I was a kid. Tons of Easter eggs. Multiple endings. It is a real game.

Yeah nice star wars gift

Very fun gift for a star wars lover. Makes for a cute little ornament, although I'm told it keeps dying. Guess that's more of a user error lol.

A Quaint, Friendly Lil' Pal!

He is my new son. And when the Jawas took him away I had to do it all again. My heart has been torn from my chest. I yearn for my R2 unit to return, but the new one will never be the same :,,,( I thoroughly enjoy this toy, the price is a tad steep when I consider the technology it must actually take to work, but I love the beeping sounds it makes, sounds like a gentle ringtone, and the minigames are kind of fun once you learn them. The Key Unlock minigame was the hardest I played and took about a dozen tries to finally get 5 in a row. Love this.

Didn't get to see any ending before he started over again

I was recently feeling nostalgic for my old '90s Tamagotchi, and when I went looking online for one, I discovered new Tamas exist and promptly ordered a few (in addition to replacing my old one with another original of the same color for nostalgia's sake). I got R2 a few days ago and took good care of R2 for his life cycle (3 days), and I was pretty happy with him, but I am really annoyed that it just reset itself at the end. It was only a few minutes after the last time I tended to R2, and I was at my desk with my headphones on while working. As soon as I realized he was beeping, I looked at him and saw the screen fading from black, and a new/unevolved R2 appeared on my screen. So my R2 ended and reset without me even getting a chance to see the ending screen or getting a choice about whether I was ready to begin again. (At least I assume that is what happened since it was about time for his life cycle to end.) I wanted to take a break between life cycles. I'm not sure if this was a fluke/a glitch or if this is really how these new Tamas are designed to end, but I am annoyed that I was deprived of seeing an ending and that I had no way to just leave it alone for a while on an ending screen to take a break before resetting him. (I'm going to see if it works to take a break by leaving him in clock-set mode.) Maybe it's possible he got kidnapped and carried away by Jawas or something, but again, it should have some sort of ending screen remain on the screen until I reset it. I got zero indication of what had happened. Now for my review other than the annoying ending (or lack thereof). R2 and his little beeps are quite cute. The mini-games are pretty fun, especially playing chess with Chewie. You'll unlock additional games a couple of times when he evolves throughout his life cycle. R2 doesn't seem to require much care compared to some other virtual pets. There's no meter to check on how charged he is or how happy he is, so it's unclear how often you should play with him. I played with him often to be safe. He often said no to me charging him, so he doesn't need charging particularly often. It does indicate visually when he needs to be cleaned. I sort of wish there was a little more to it, but he's still a fun little Tama and enjoyable for Star Wars fans. It's fun to see the various Star Wars characters and scenes that pop up at different times of the day. It's also nice that you can alternate between playing a few games with him instead of only getting one game like with classic Tamas.Lots of people comment about the size. It should be obvious before purchasing that this isn't a classic-style Tamagotchi. This is a nano (my first nano). Do a little reading, folks! Takes a few minutes to research Tamagotchi types. I do prefer the classic size and shape, but I don't mind this one. It's pretty cute. It's not quite as tall or wide as original Tamas, but it is rounder/thicker. I'm including a photo for size comparison. Two stars subtracted mainly due to the ending issue, plus I wish there was some sort of status meter to see what he needs and to have an idea of how often you should play games with him.Editing to add later: can confirm after running him multiple times that he simply resets himself every time his life cycle ends. No ending screen, nothing.

Nerdy boyfriend approved

The first time I walked into my boyfriend's office I realized I had a problem. Knowing he was a Star Wars fan, I thought he'd be easy to shop for. But alas, the day I witnessed his own personal Star Wars Museum, I knew he already had everything. Until I found this little guy. A trinket that he didn't know existed. And it scratches the nostalgia itch for him as well. The smile on his face to get a Star Wars gift that he didn't already have was the best feeling!
