Beirui Leather Dog Harness for Small Medium and Large Dogs

Hooks on top are in front as they should be, so pull is on shoulders rather than rib cage. Thick, strong leather, but it does soften up with use, which is perfect. Leather protectors for under the buckets that protect against rubbing. Brass hardware. Hardware seems thick and strong. The only place I might possibly have trouble with long term use is in the prong on the bucket, but really not even sure if there would be problems in the future--just maybe, and buckets can be replaced on leather. Once neck strap is fitted, there is only chest strap to do each time, and you do have to slip one leg in each time. The leather that goes underneath the dog between the neck and chest is about 2", maybe 2 1/2" wide, which is what I wanted as the width between my dogs forelegs is smaller than most large dogs. He likes this harness. He knows when he gets this harness on he is going out (vs. the training harness I have for him). I would not call this a training harness, as it does not have the D ring in the front, but it is a wonderful tie out or walking harness for a trained dog. Although a strong person could use as a no pull trainer. It has (2) D rings on the top for security attached to the front leather strap where it loops through the back piece leather. Most of all, when he lurches and is pulled back, I can see he is not being hurt. Overall, I am happy with this, and the only reason I gave it 4 stars is I will have to wait to see how the buckle prong holds up with longevity use. However, it has only been less than a week, and probably only used 15 times so far, so if something not as I have written were to surface, I might update this review. As far as size goes, my dog has a 22" neck and a 28" chest, and it is just a touch loose in the next to last hole in both straps, which means plenty of room for him to grow and it will still fit. The last hole (for the smallest fit) it a little too snug for him, but if I wanted a tight fit, they would work. The nice thing about leather is holes can be added in either direction.

Overall, I am very pleased with this harness. The measurements are exact (you will need to be exact in measuring your dog though), the fit is perfect for my Boston Terrier. The smell of leather is wonderful. Stitching and overall workmanship looks sturdy and nice. If compared to polyester harnesses my dog wore before, he seems to recover faster from running, so it must be cooler, no surprise here, as many holes PE harness has for "breathability", natural material such as leather has incomparably better breathability. When outside, my dog seems to "read" my hand signals better, so the seller is right in claiming that it is good for training. Leather is soft enough not to irritate soft skin, and my dog is almost bald on his underside and wears this harness most of the day.The only reason that the product received 4 stars and not 5 is a small detail that was not thought of. The end of the belt that goes around the chest, and gets flexed every time you put harness on or take it off, this part is not reinforced and starting fraying already after a week of use. I am looking into ways to stop it from fraying, but the best way would be for the manufacturer to put a small metal edge on that belt, or just harden it with leather glue, just the very end of the belt. Other than that, the harness is highly recommended!

The harness is quality built and has a rugged/durable appearance. Nice harness for a short hair dog. However, my dog has long, fine hair ( poddle/ maltese mix). So, while the rivets are very will installed, his hair would still get caught under the rivets and pull. The harness was always to one side or the other. I think the neck strap needs to be centered and anchored at the top where the D rings are located which is why I gave the 4 star rating.

Fits our border collie very well, takes a little time to set it up each time, especially the first time. Looks really, really high quality on him. The straps are two thin pieces of leather sandwiched together. The leather is clearly not first quality, but that's OK, especially for the price. Buckles are really high quality, brass it looks like, and heavy.

This harness is a dark brown color with brass metal buckles. I chose this because I like the brass metal lookMy baby is almost 20lbs and she fits the small size. I returned the medium is was a lot bigger than I expected.The small can fit a medium sized dog with all the holes for sizing.It fits well on her.. Not too clunky or bulky

i bought this for my 11 lb. toy poodle. The removable neck strap was way too large so I trimmed it at just below 3rd hole.and that fit better. The leather tab on top which the rear strap with two rings pass through had a habit of slipping to one side or the other of my dogs body. I took it to my local shoemaker who put a rivet on each side of the rings and that solved that for about 9 bucks.He seemed impressed with the quality of this harness when I mentioned the price and I have received another comment on how nice this is.It works well now , seems comfy and my poodle has not chewed it up and hooray for metal buckles. He wrecked about $50 of nylon buckle harnesses in the two years I've owned him..

I ordered this harness but had to return it, as the description is incorrect. My Golden Retriever has a 30" girth, and the harness barely fit him on the last hole. And when you put the buckle in the last hole, the leather piece is not long enough to fit under the strap to keep it down. So, not secure on the last hole. Bummed that they don't seem to have the right size for my dog.

Great harness for the price..added my own brass eyelets to make the holes stronger. It does run a little small. I have a dog thats shaped like a pug, with the chest being so wide its a tight fit even after my measurements stated it would fit fine. The good thing is that you can easily switch the leather strap out with one of your own to modify it, which is what i will have to do if she gets any bigger. Great harness for a dog who escapes the fabric type harnesses.
