The United States Patchwork Pattern Book (Dover Crafts: Quilting)

I was disappointed in this book because it doesn't even really include "basic instructions". It shows a picture of each state block in black and white, gives you outlines of the pattern pieces for the block, and gives you yardage for a quilt. However, it does not tell you how to sew the pieces together nor does it give a picture of the finished quilt. A couple of the block pages show you several blocks joined together. The pattern pieces do not include seam allowance, so you have to add that to all of your pieces. Also, if you wanted to rotary cut your pieces rather than copy a pattern, you will have problems. The first state, Alabama, consists of 9 equal sized widths across the block and it is supposed to make a 12" finished block. There is no way to measure the width needed (1.63889) to cut the pieces for the block.

Have nice patterns with instructions.

Very usable

This book is definitely not for beginners, but rather for those that enjoy the challenge of how to piece each block. As stated in other reviews, there are no instructions, just black and white pattern pieces to copy. Must add seam allowances! But for under $10 and considering it was published in 1976, it’s a well-researched document. I’ve made the first two blocks so far and look forward to figuring out the rest.

This book has good patterns but would have like it better if it had color illustrations and instructions for construction but most you will be able to figure out. It is going to serve the purpose for what I wanted it for and that was a pattern for each state so i could make gifts for friends.

I wanted it for the West Virginia quilt. I'm doing it in stained glass and found the pattern to be off a bit. I quilt so i made the adjustments for glass. This book came out during the bicentennial year and I think it's a fun book. I plan to do a few more in glass from surrounding states for travelers passing through our area.

I was looking for a book of patchwork patterns for all the states so I could use my flowers of all the states fabrics. This book will do just fine.

本の値段を考えたら　パターンの数に満足です。表紙と裏表紙の表裏以外は白黒で書かれてあります。白黒でも４色での表現は　ありまし　パターンの連続を作ってみたり50州作られても楽しいと思います．

たくさんのパターンがのっていました。表紙がアメリカンカラーだったのでアメリカンカラーのサンプラーを作りたくて買いましたが、中は白黒だったので少しざんねんでした。

購入してずいぶん経ちますが、まだ制作欲が湧きません。期待通りの内容ではなかったです。

A fantastic book giving you designs from many states across America no instructions but picture images on their own makes it easy to follow plus you have a template for each one I am so pleased with my item can't wait to start each project

The book is not what I expected, the photos on the website were not explicit enough. I expected instructions with the designs but there were none. Just template shapes to trace and then cut out in cardboard. Ok for an experienced patchworker but not for a beginner like me.
