Nikon Travelite 12x25mm Black Binoculars

I bought one pair of these from Amazon in Used condition but the prism in one eye piece wasn't properly aligned. I see this problem has been mentioned in other reviews. I was able to return them with no trouble and bought a pair in NEW condition. This time everything was perfect. Very nice and sharp. I have a trip to Costa Rica coming up so I wanted a pair that allowed me to look at things in a forest. So up at the top of a tree, not on mars. These are 12-25. The 12 is the magnification and 12X is just fine for what I need. If you get too much magnification you will find the image is hard to keep stable and you are so zoomed in it's hard to actually find what you are looking for. I also need something water proof, light and something that works well in low light situations. The 25 in the title is the size of the lens. Bigger means they let in more light. Bigger lenses are nice but add to the size and weight. I hate to suggest "showrooming" but you might want to pop down to an REI and what fits in your hands, what kind of weight you want, etc. It's tough to pick binoculars on the internet. But if you do decide on a small travel pair, these are the guys you want.

Love 'em for athletic events. Other brand pair of binoculars were misplaced. Went back to Nikon; superior to the other brand I tried, IMO. *NOT* disappointed; lightweight, (almost) pocket size, good quality. They were quite a bit more $$$ but I'm more than satisfied. I'm just going to be more careful, keeping track of them.

Used these on our 2-week vacation in Europe which included a 7-day River cruise along the Rhine and 3-days on land in Switzerland. We were able to see some incredible sites (castles, mountain ranges, etc) from the boat and made for some awesome views while up on the Matterhorn in Zermatt using these binoculars. Great value for the money. Performed flawlessly and were very lightweight and easy to use.

Out of the box, the only set up needed is to attach the straps. It is easy to focus and has separate focus for each eye. The image is sharp and bright. We are pleased with these lightweight binoculars.

I did a ton of research and for what I wanted and in my price range these stood out and I have been very pleased with them. I got them for hunting and football games because they are super lightweight. That's my favorite part. The quality and clarity are both amazing. I was watching a baseball game from behind the fence in left field and could see the expression on the batters face. The only con in my opinion is the shape. They are not quite as compact as some, however I discovered that the carrying case has a belt loop so at the risk of looking nerdy I decided to put it on my hip for the baseball game and that worked out well. I'm married so I don't need to impress the ladies anymore, haha.Definitely recommend! The 10 X 25mm are also great, I couldn't decide so I went with the bigger zoom. Happy.

(Update) After using these on about 10 hunts the grip on the out side of the binoculars fell off. I guess it is just glued on there however I can't find it to glue back on. This is not impeding the use much at all but just a flaw as I haven't used these much yet and was sad to see I lost it somehow.I traded up from the big bulky binoculars to these and I will never go back! Lightweight but even more important crystal clear and great quality!

Excellent pocket binocs for bird watching. The 12 power is exactly right to let me see sufficient detail for reliable bird identification and the view is reasonably bright for pocket binocs. Images is crisp and clear. The size makes it very convenient to have along no matter what the purpose of the hike or walk. Very pleased and I am using them almost every day.

lightweight and great 12x magnification, but the alignment is off so that if both eyes are open you have double vision. I have other 12x25 porro prism brands without any trouble seeing perfectly, but this pair just will not adjust
