SUPER Tent

I bought this tent to go to iceland in September of this year. I bought it because of the good reviews that showed that it was clearly water and windproof. So on Sept 11 we were off for 2 weeks. If you know anything about Iceland you know that it can be extremely windy sometimes hurricane like and also have torrential rains. Well, we experienced both. My friend brought a very expensive brand new high end tent called Big A.... The first night we dealt with heavy rain and the next morning extreme wind. My friends high end tent broke a pole and it ripped through his rain fly. This tent remained steadfast and water tight for the entire 2 weeks. I was a little worried to begin with because I didnt have room to bring the footprint but alas I didn't need it. These tents are incredible and I will probably never buy another brand, Keep up the great work ALPS

Good quality tent - large rainfly

The stitching and quality of zippers looks like it will hold up to use for a long time to come. I had no problem with zippers catching on the material. Set up is pretty quick - easier with 2 people than doing it alone. Aluminum poles look to be durable. There are mesh areas on the top of the tent so you can watch the stars if the rain fly isn't on the tent. Tent also has mesh on both ends with a zipper to access the ventilation windows on the fly. I kept the vents open and had no problems with condensation. There is plenty of room for 2 adults.I was somewhat disappointed in the rain fly. It adds about 2.5 feet to front and back sides of the tent making it a pretty significant sized foot print for a 3 person tent. However, after sleeping in it during a thunder storm, I appreciated the fact that I was dry and had a dry spot to put my shoes on outside of my tent.If you are primarily interested in backpacking, this would probably not be your first choice as it is rather heavy and large when rolled up.

great tent, but a bit small.

Pros:Waterproof without any additional waterproofing necessaryLightweight yet durableAluminum poles are AMAZING, never going back to fiberglass.Tons of vestibule space on both sides, never had to bring my gear inside the tent during the past couple weeks of camping in the Tetons.Quick and easy to get up/downPoles get clipped on instead of having to slide through those stupid mesh straps.Cons:I don't like the 3 pole system, but whatever. Personal preference.SMALL. As with any other 3 person tent, don't expect to fit 3 adult in this tent. Unless you want to sleep 2 inside and 1 outside. Or if the three of you are VERY intimate. Just not gonna happen. Without any gear in the tent, two people will sleep shoulder to shoulder.

I absolutely love this tent

I absolutely love this tent.I have two tents - one 2p Big Agnes tent that it essentially weightless and is great for intense backpacking (but pricey and super small). However, THIS tent is fantastic if you don't have to hike too long, or are okay carrying around the weight. It's a 3p tent and feels super spacious inside. I love the style/shape, which feels unique and makes me happy. It has a window/door on each side so the cross breeze is also fantastic. I use the tent with the footprint to ensure the tent lasts as long as possible and to keep things as dry as possible. Great purchase - I am very happy.

It came packaged like it was new but

Just received this tent, and took it strait to the yard to set it up. The tent was USED, and not just once. It came packaged like it was new but, was covered in stains, and the inside had pine needles, sticks and dirt! The mesh on one of the windows was snagged in a few places as well.

Amazing tent! Has withstood winds over 70 mph!

Updated review: I wanted to leave another review after 2 years of ownership. I have used this tent for weeks in the Rocky Mountains, during severe storms, extreme heat, and extreme cold. The tent doesnt even have a ripped seam. My most recent trip was on the edge of lake erie where the sustained winds were between 40 and 50 mph all night with gusts up to 70 mph and the tent held up just fine. If you orient the vestibule into the wind, ever extreme straight line winds just roll right off of it. This will be the only tent I ever buy (if I ever need to buy another).Original review: Lots of thought went into making this tent. Very well built and easy to assemble/disassemble.

A Real Life Saver

I just returned from a multi-day backpacking trip in Western Oregon and can unequivocally say that this tent is an actual life-saver. My reasons for backpacking in torrential rain aside, this tent pulled through and turned what could've been deadly mistakes on my part into mild inconveniences.PROS: - With two vestibules, this tent is great at keeping multiple packs dry - Gear loft is great for holding easy-to-reach midnight necessities, like headlamps and toiletpaper - Easy assembly makes even night-time-in-the-rain timing possible. Three poles, easy to erect. - Rain-fly ventilation keeps condensation to a minimum.CONS: - Thin floor material necessitates additional purchase of a tarp. - Claims to be a 3 person tent, actually better as a two-person tent.

Kept Us Dry Through 4 Nights of Heavy Rain

I bought this tent for an 8 day hike with my wife on the Appalachian Trail. It was the perfect size for the two of us and our big packs. Amazingly, the tent kept us BONE DRY through four nights of heavy, nonstop rain. It even kept us completely dry one night when we had to pitch on wet ground after getting caught out late on the trail. The middle pole of the tent is pre-bent in the center, and definitely surprised us because it looked so warped. But rest assured that this a design feature! The floor of the tent tears easily. You have to buy the floor saver if you plan on camping in any rough areas. Otherwise, even a small rock will pierce the floor.

For the price, can't be beat

I love this tent.I've taken it kayaking, backpacking, and regular tent camping.Setup is a breeze alone or with a friend - less than 5 minutes start to finish. As with any "3-person" tent, it's great if you're camping with 2 good friends. If they're acquaintances, consider leaving one of them at home, as you will probably be making some elbow contact throughout the night. With 3 in the tent, there's no room for backpacks and such, but the vestibules are huge and provide tons of space to keep your things out of the rain. The quality is fine - the floor is a little thin, but provided you sweep your tent pad and are using a groundsheet and good tent etiquette (take off your shoes, people!), it should last for years. The zippers aren't super heavy duty, but I haven't had any problems with them so far. Walls and fly feel sturdy and weatherproof. I've used it in torrential thunderstorms and days of steady rain, and it hasn't leaked once. No, it's not the MOST compact or lightest tent out there, but you'd be looking at several hundreds of dollars more before you're down to a truly lightweight backpacking tent. It's fine if you're not looking to scrape every ounce out of your pack. The only reason I'm taking off a star is because mine was shipped without pegs or guylines.

My crib on The Great Himalayan Ranges

Used this during August 2016 on a 26 days long trek on the Great Himalayan Ranges. Two of us, two dogs and two of our ruck sacks (65 & 75 litres) were easily accommodated and still had space left.Good quality and easy to pitch once you understand the colour codes. Stood great against a cold weather, strong winds and rain. Insulated us very well. We loved it so did the dogs without a shadow of doubt.Go for it, you won't regret it!!

Just completed a five day backpacking trip with the Extreme Three.

Just completed a five day backpacking trip with my new tent. It was great, easy to set up and lots of storage. For me, it is not really a three person tent though, as it is a very good two person tent, hence my four star rating. I also bought an Extreme Two tent that is in my opinion really just big enough for a single. Good tent, just tight for two. Definitely enough storage in both tents and I like the vestibules very much. My wife and I will be using the Extreme Three for all of our backpacking trips. The Extreme Two will go to our son, who loves it.
