Wow
I wanted a new winter coat that wasn't as heavy any binding as my current squall jacket. When I opened this I was very disappointed because it was so light I couldn't believe it would keep me warm. I mean, this weighs nothing. It feels like a windbreaker. But it's Lands End, right? So I tried it, and it is warm and so, so comfortable. Now, below about 35F I wear a fleece jacket underneath. Without the fleece it feels drafty. There is just enough room and then I'm super warm walking the dogs on cold windy nights. This coat alone is perfect on its own in the 35-50F range. I wore it on a warmer day, because it's so light, and actually started sweating so don't underestimate it.Fit is good, not too unflattering for a "heavy" winter coat. Definitely worth the money. You know you have a winner when you've just gotten it and you're already worried about whether you'll be able to replace it when it wears out.

Almost Perfect lightweight travel coat
This 800 fill down short coat is almost perfect for travel, minus a few design flaws. It’s super lightweight and packs into itself through a small inner pouch that you can cinch down with a drawstring. It will keep you toasty in cold weather with just a long sleeve T-shirt-I tried it out in 45f. It has a nice comfortable casual style. Some design improvements needed and I think important for travel would be 1-2 inner secret pockets possibly with a zipper, possibly RFID safe for quick access to passport or cards during the rush or layovers while at an airport. This coat has no inner pockets.Another aspect I found to be negative in the design is that this coat is barely water resistant. In a light drizzle, it absorbed water. 😑but in a fog it was able to withstand absorption. Designing it to be somewhat water repellent would surely make this a better travel coat.Another observation is that within a few minutes of wearing it, I noticed that fine feathers were escaping from it, indicating that this coat, though purchased at a decent price, is rather cheaply made. The escaping feathers doesnt bother me all that much. I am looking for a packable down coat that is warm enough for Northern European travel, is water repellent, is lightweight and packable for minimalistic carry-on or pack travelers, and has inner secret pockets to store a cellphone, and passport for easy access. I imagine other travelers feel the same.

Love Lands End, but question their temp ratings
I have been a loyal Lands End customer for many years. The last few coats I've purchased, however, I've questioned the temp rating. I love this jacket in every way - the fit, the hood fit, the packability, etc. - but after receiving it I've been walking short stints in above freezing temps with a medium weight turtle underneath and I can't say that I've been toasty. I'm going to keep it for all the other reasons stated, but I cannot imagine being cozy warm in 7 degrees - under freezing temps for more than a few minutes unless I had some mega warm clothes, including a thermal layer underneath. That said, it runs a little big so would allow for those layers.

Terrible company, horrible fit.
I ordered a medium. Every coat I own is a medium and fits me perfectly (5’4, 165 pounds, 36DD) This jacket is huge on me. It fits like a large. On top of that, I tried to exchange it for a small and they will only do returns and at my expense! Why would I bother trying to order a small now?! What a waist of time and money.

Great jacket at a reasonable price.
This turned out to be one of the best winter weather purchases I made this year. The medium tall fit me perfectly, long enough in the arms, which never happens, and this is just the right length for some coverage without interfering with movement. (I’m 5’8”, 130 lbs.) Not for deep cold, but just right for temps around freezing. An unexpected plus is no logo or other unnecessary branding. Just a really nicely made light duty down jacket. People keep asking me what brand it is and they are surprised when I tell them. Another plus— the hood on this jacket is well structured and provides good cover without blocking peripheral vision. Very pleased with this purchase.

Great value
Very light weight, and also , very warmI’m a size 12 petite. The xl is probably too big, & should have gotten a size l . I wanted to be able to wear vest or sweater under jacket. There is plenty room for that. Sleeves & length are good, deep pockets with zippers & even an inside pocket for gloves or hat. GREAT PRICE

Why did I wait so long to buy this?!
This fit perfectly and was flattering which is an amazing feat for a puffy jacket! We went tubing in low 30° weather and I only wore a long sleeve T-shirt underneath this coat. And the best part is it packs into itself and can be put inside a small backpack. And as if that’s not enough, it decides to be an overachiever and it’s water resistant! Favorite winter jacket/coat ever!

Lightweight, warm, quality down jacket
I bought this jacket specifically for hiking, and it has served its purpose well. This jacket is light and packs down well while also being warmer than I was expecting it to be. Lands End jackets tend to run a little large which I knew so I ordered the X small and it Fits with room for a sweatshirt underneath.
