This is an incredible machine!
The picture above is me being able to easily use this Juki to quilt a full size quilt! Let me explain. I have 2 Janine’s, a Bernina, and another plus serger. None had adequate harp area and I didn’t go the quilt as you go route. I have a few other T-shirt quilts to make so I went searching on Amazon. I was specifically looking for a workhorse with no bells and whistles. This baby is IT! She is quiet, easy to use when you carefully go by the manual and the many YouTube videos. The automatic needle cutter was a bonus I didn’t think would be such a wonderful asset. It sees up to 1500 stitches per minute. When doing a lot of straight lines this is great. But it also maneuvers well. I ordered the Grace Cutie Breeze frame to use for more intricate designs with this machine. Substantial and solid, all metal. I ordered needles and bobbins but it comes with plenty of supplies. The price, while not ceap, is reasonable for such a great addition.Update: after posting, I have had issues with thread coming unthreaded, etc. Trying to get help has not been fruitful. I’m upset at this point

Sews through thick layers with ease!
I had a straight stitch machine by another brand and loved it, but heard so many good things about Juki that I decided to get this machine too. At the time I bought it, I didn't realize there were other nearly identical Juki's. This Juki is the Qi, and is less money than the "Q" because it comes with fewer feet and one less threading tension disk, which I guess I didn't realize when I decided to buy this one. But my other brand machine only had the one tension disk anyhow, so I was used to that. I didn't really need the extra feet the more expensive one came with either, so I think I made the right choice and saved $350 over the same machine with those extras. The Juki sews through thick layers and fast! Great to bag making and piecing quilts and quilting too. I have no problem quilting with the walking foot, but for some reason whenever I try to free motion quilt and use a matching thread on the back and a different color on the front, the bobbin thread always shows through. I have adjusted it and tried everything and the same problem. So I am sticking to quilting with a walking foot on this machine only. Maybe after I take it in for servicing, the tech might fix that?I did buy the 1/4" foot with the guide that is made for this Juki and love that foot! That is all I needed to buy extra (besides some bobbins). This is a high shank machine, so I already had high shank presser feet from my other machine that work on this one too.I love how the thread cuts by pressing down on your heel on the foot petal or pushing the button. The needle threader is a bit tricky to get the hang of, so find how to thread this machine on a YouTube video, because the instructions are not clear in the manual for it. Other than that, this is a simple to use and maintain machine and I will enjoy sewing on it for years to come.

Strong, Solid and Sleek - perfect step-up machine
I had my eye on this machine for at least 5 years before I purchased it. I'd been sewing on a $200 Brother starter machine and turned out some good quality quilt tops and clothing on it, but eventually it wore out. I have a 30 year old Husquevarna viking that still runs beautifully but it just can't handle the FMQ like I wanted. This JUKI is absolutely all I had hoped for. The noise is so minimal, it doesn't bounce around the table even when I sew at high speeds--speaking of which, no more getting impatient with your top sewing speed on this machine. I worried about not having the speed control like on the 2010 model, but I wasn't willing to pay the extra price just for that. The foot control is good on this and I needn't have worried; I can go any speed comfortably.Remember to read the instructions and oil all points before you start. The throat is not as wide as one might expect, but you don't really need a full-on longarm in most cases. The extra height and 1.25 inches or so of throat space is plenty for most quilters. You can buy a frame or build on if you like, or just quilt even a large king quilt in quarters. The thread trimming works great and so far I haven't had any problems with starting again right away, even when the bobbin thread is invisible after trimming. NICE. The knee lifter lever is a time saver too, although I don't use it consistently because I have 3 little ones who are very curious. If you, like me, have LO's in the house and plan to leave this machine out, do use the cover and unplug all the cords when you leave it, just to be safe, and don't have it on anything that could be pulled down. She's not a move-around-often machine and could really do damage if she fell.I wish this particular package had come with a few more bobbins, but it's not a big deal. We always need more bobbins anyway.Basically, this is not a starter machine, but is absolutely perfect for a step up in your game and one that will last you a good long time if you take care of her. The feet are so sturdy and i like the threading--reminds me of my grandmother's 1950s Necchi that I learned to sew on--and nothing could shop that one. I have a feeling this lovely sleek and powerful JUKI will be just the same.

This is one of the best sewing machines I have ever owned!
I have had a juki in the past a small one, and here recently the tension messed up on it so my husband agreed to help me get a new one and I chose this one. It's been my dream machine for many years and it just became very affordable. If you are looking for a new machine look no further than this one. It's very sturdy has a lot of nice features and it works terrific right out of the box.It is very heavy but it is all metal it's a pretty good size, and the stability of this machine is awesome. It also has an automatic thread cutter, and the LED lights are awesome. The one thing I have had trouble with is the automatic needle threader but I finally figured it out and can use it now. There's a lot of great tutorials on YouTube.Happy sewing!
