Not a bad alarm clock, does it's job.
This alarm clock is alright. It's loud enough to wake you and you can't turn it off until you find where the spinning top flew off to, which is exactly what this product is meant to do. It's a little wobbly where the top attaches in, but overall I would recommend. Not a bad alarm clock.

Great idea, but you have to work with it
Completely battery powered, so you can stick it in the most obscure places with nice nooks and crannies for the propeller to fall into, so you can search in frustration in the morning, making you that much more awake. I think the idea is genius. In case you were wondering, the battery compartment is sealed with a simple screw, so unless you keep screwdrivers near your bedside you are thwarted from simply popping the battery to make it shut up, as I would be tempted to do - wonderful engineering! Easy to set up, easy to use.The only reason this is not a 5 star is that the propeller does not fly very far, and takes off very unreliably. It sort of plops, actually, especially if you don't stick it in there just right. The best trick is to stick it in there, then push test so it falls in there just right. So that makes it of limited usefulness because you can find it pretty fast, unless you cleverly set it up in a hard to find area with lots of messy space. Sometimes it will even plop right back into the alarm and silence itself if set up off, very annoying. So not something to be relied upon by itself, but if you're a heavy and stubborn sleeper like me you will probably have 4 backup alarms anyway.

The ‘flying’ part doesn’t really fly
Well...it doesn’t fly, is the only problem. The alarm function works just fine - the helicopter part tries to pop off and get airborne - but doesn’t quite make it.It makes a really loud, “no sleep through” noise though, and you have to pop the helicopter part back onto the base to shut it up. My son decided just to put the helicopter part on his dresser across the room, thus still has to get out of bed to shut the alarm off, so...mission accomplished anyway.

Serves the purpose of an alarm clock
It's a nice alarm clock for the purpose of waking up to a really annoying sound and having to do something unique to turn it off. The propeller doesn't always fly off though. Most of the time the alarm goes off and the propeller spins in place still attached to the base. It's still interesting, but it would be much cooler if the propeller actually flew off the base like it is supposed to.

It works if you dont shut it off right away
Almost every review said it didnt work. But mine works! The problem might be that it takes a couple of seconds for the top to spin fast enough and fly off. So if you put it on the other side of the room, itll have enough time to fly away.

this is a very good idea but I the product isn't the best the first one I got didn't work so I had to return the second one I received the propeller only flew off for about a month been using as just a standard alarm clock since... which is pretty frustrating being that the purpose of the alarm clock was to get my son out of bed to get the propeller although the alarm itself is very loud which helps

Day 1 and it works like a charm!
I'm a notorious snooze hitter and have always had an incredibly hard time waking up. Let's just say Day 1 of this alarm clock and I'm up and awake after the first alarm! It sounds like an emergency alarm sound, and it takes a sec for the flying part to fly away so I recommend setting it away from where you could reach to hit snooze before it flies. You do have to provide your own AA batteries but it comes with clock batteries in it and an extra set, and you'll need a tiny screwdriver, the one I use for my eye glasses worked perfect. Also looks like a spot to plug it in to electricity if you bought a universal ac/dc plug? Hoping all days are like day 1, this is great!

It does not work. This is the second one. They both have a propeller problem.
It was supposed to be a gift for my grandson.

disappiontment
The first clock was broken and amazon did a wonderful job of a quick replacement. The clock seems fragile. The noise was great, but the lift off is much less than I thought. The propeller only lifts off about 12 inches.
