Tributyrin is a highly absorbable triglyceride that releases butyrate through enzymatic action. Butyrate is a short chain fatty acid that supports gut health providing energy (fuel) to colonocytes. Low level of butyrate is associated with inflammatory conditions in GI tract, dysbiosis (prevalence of harmful bacteria over the beneficial ones), and leaky gut (the condition very common among aging Western populations). Tributyrin has been clinically tested, though the scope of human clinical trials is limited compared to animal studies. There is preliminary evidence from both animal and human studies supporting its efficacy for gut health, but research is ongoing. My personal experience with this product is very positive. It is best taken with meal or with some healthy fats like avocado or a teaspoon of extra virgin olive oil. I did not notice any side effects even though I am quite sensitive. Critical for my gut health when fighting for my life....cachectic with severe gastrointestinal issues caused by M.D. misprescribing and destroying my gastrointestinal function in multiple ways. Antibiotics fix things short term....this is critical to maintain that. And you need a company that sells PREMIUM ingredients. Buying this cheap is wasting money. This company does it right: They may lose sales to cheap producers....but they maintain ethical and moral clarity by only producing REAL supplements in an industry where low quality and ineffective ingredients are often the norm. If anyone out there suffers from microscopic colitis, you should try this product. I didn't want to get on a steroid regimen and discovered that tributyrate is easier to absorb to heal the lining of the colon, which is where all the problems originate. It has been life changing for me. Again, my gastroenterologist knew zero about a natural supplement, but again, that seems to be the way of the woods these days.

This is important because of strong chemotherapy. This product along with magnesium really helps.
