Great idea, great design,... many flaws.
Pros:1. Don't listen to people who say that it's made with cheap plastic - the material is not the best, but it's not the worst either.2. For the first few weeks the unit behaved amazingly good. Hint: read the cons section.3. Clean Cycle feature is amazing.4. Easy to install. Folks who don't know what they're doing - check the youtube, company's web site, don't forget to kill power to AC/Furnace, and stop crying.5. Definately an eye catcher. I've received multiple compliments from my guests.Cons:I've had this unit for past month or so and the unit's behavior is inconsistent. I'm still deciding if I should return it.1. Don't even try using your phone to set up temperature at night - it won't work. Michigan and Alaska folks - beware!I learned this a hard way, we have a 16 months old daughter and I woke up in the middle of the night shivering from cold. Looked at the iPhone, but the temperature looked normal. Went downstairs to find that the unit was registering absolutely different temperature readings (thank God we live in California). Looks like the company decided to save battery life and disabled Wi-Fi antennas/internet connectivity at night.2. Display is pretty bad - it "leaks" when you try changing settings or go through menus.3. For the past week it's impossible to change temperature through my iPhone, even though, the unit says it's connected to WiFi, and the iOS app says that it made connection with the unit.... 3 minutes ago.4. Unit registers incorrect temperature once a while. Came home to find that it's registering 76F as 84F. Did manual adjustments to get it down to 76. 10 minutes later, the thermostat registered 72F.5. Clean Cycle sometimes doesn't work.

Nice SMART thermostat for the price
I have had this for a couple of days already. I got this from Amazon Deals in a Used, like new condition and i can say that the unit does not look used at all. there were no scratches on the thermostat itself. One slight scuff on the "goof" plate. The plastic on the box was not on the product and it was ripped slightly because someone had to open the box. Batteries were not in plastic, and they were used obviously to try out the product. The manual and the wire stickers were all in great condition. Very happy with it. Some people have mentioned that it looks and feels cheap, but I don't really think so. This is a very shiny black, and is a nice accent for our living room. Installation wasn't too difficult. I would highly suggest you take a picture of your current thermostat wiring and note where the wires go. Send that to Lux support and they can tell you where everything goes on the unit BEFORE you get it. This is what I did and it was a great help. Use those little stickers also to label the wires but be careful because they fell off on me. I put the two red wires in the wrong place and I could not get air to come on. Had to reverse. This is not a product flaw, but a flaw on myself! :-)It took me three tries to get connected through wi-fi. It would not connect. At the third try the app said it did not, but the thermostat did. Not sure what happened there, but I only wasted about 5 minutes of my time. It is really easy to set up. You do need the app to do this. The app is very easy to use and so is the website. My only complaint is that I wish you were able to select all the options available through the app and not only through the thermostat. These settings would include swing, offset, air filter to name a couple. Not a huge deal since I think that once you set these, you don't have to really touch them again but still....I am tech geeky as my name implies.Only CON I can see right now, is it did drop my connection. Not sure if it was me or them since we did have a storm. Will monitor.Overall, I am really liking this product. Only has 4 stars right now, but will come back later and update this review. I still need to try out the away and fence features. I will also need a little more time regarding the use to see if this stays at 4, goes to five, or drops to 3. So far with my experience with support and the device, I can't imagine it dropping.update (5-18-2017) - One last thing. I did have to calibrate it down two degrees. Compared two different thermometers. Been check to see if it changes and so far so good. Living in Wisconsin in May, i have used this with heating and cooling. Both are working good so far.

Great thermostat for the price...until they brick the unit (4 year update)
Update 4 years later:The company pushed an update out this week and now one of my thermostats will not connect to the app. Any changes I make via the app do not get pushed to the thermostat. I called support and they weren't very helpful. They said to wait a week and see if anything changes. I understand that my unit is about 4 years old but having a unit get bricked because of an update they pushed doesn't seem right. It was working perfectly fine up until the day they pushed out the update. Also they updated the mobile app but they seem to have taken out some useful features. Plus they removed the ability to control the units from their website. That was convenient rather than having to grab my phone.Original review belowEasy to set up and configure. It's great to be able to control the thermostat from anywhere. Installation is a breeze as long as you label all the wires properly when disconnecting your old thermostat. The iPhone app works great as well as the website. One thing that isn't all that useful is their "How You Stack Up" reports. It's basically a comparison of your usage versus nearby homes. I went on vacation for a week and had all the systems off. Checking the report said that my usage was only better than 58% of the homes. Not sure how that's calculated considering my system was completely off for the week. But that wouldn't stop me from recommending this to anyone in the market for a wifi thermostat. It's got an easy to use app that allows you to schedule the heat and cool periods in any way you like from the basic weekdays/weekends to a completely customized schedule.

Good for an older house
One of the very few wifi thermostats that will work in an older home with 2 wire connectivity! Wifi runs off batteries -you can set sensitivity and it alerts you when batteries running down. App is clunky but gets job done. Usually a delay between using via wifi and thermostat changes -manual is quicker. App allows you to pre-program for consistency. Wall mounted device easy to access. Physical mechanism of wall mounted device very LED / B&W / vague -anachronistic. I would love to give this a 5/5 stars simply because it is a wifi thermostat that works in older homes with 2 wire systems (somewhat remarkable!) but the physical interface is very dated.

Needs work
I bought this thermal stat because it has option of running on battery, has option of plugging into power from USB power, and because of the wifi and programming. I must say I am very disappointed.1st the USB power plug is a addon, and the batteries literally lasted me 2 weeks2nd the app for scheduling really needs a lot of work! When trying to set it up from home and away it keeps going to a different temp than what you set it up for. I ended up having to set it up from the thermal stat itself. And don’t even try Geo tracking because it will throw the temperature way out.We set this up in our cabin, so that we could control the heat at low temps from home so pipes don’t freeze in winter. Set temp at 13c left the cabin and got home and checked the temp a turn which shot up to 25c with out us touching it and not even close to the schedule temp this thing has a mind of it’s own!Long story short we ended up disabling the schedule and leaving the temp at 13c 2 weeks later it kept saying it had no wifi so we drove out to find the screen black the batteries had died. Wow I’ve had other thermal stats use batteries last over a year!I expected more from this over priced thermal stat. And have to say Lux needs to work on thisUpdate Lux Thermostat quite working again after the 5th time as it was defective we replaced it with a Nest returned LuxWould not recommend this product!

Simple install
Bought this product because of the battery option. One of the few that will work on a millivolt system on my gas fireplace.Easy install. Follow the instructions and it worked like a charm. Little worried about battery life, but time will tell. Will add to my review in six months about this.Definitely recommend this product.Kieva
