I purchased this glass cleaner for my fireplace glass door. The firewood I'm using is not dry enough meaning creosote forming on the glass door.The Rutland glass cleaner definitely works. Prior to my purchase I used to clean the glass door everyday with a piece of damp kitchen towel; it's a hard work.Once I received the glass cleaner I tried it on the door which was dirty from two days of creosote. It sounds like nothing, but creosote it's not dust, it's a hard shell similar to melted and then hardened plastic attached to the surface.It was amazing! The first cleaning is the more challenging, although definitely easier than that with a damp towel. You can feel the tiny particles scrubbing the dirt and then the cream leaving a smooth surface.I just followed the instructions in detail, not difficult at all.Once you have cleaned the surface for the first time, the following times it's much easier as someone else said in a review. From the second time it's a breeze, you don't need to scrub hard, just like the ads for dish detergent, one pass makes the job. It's like a miracle!A few days ago I didn't noticed that a firewood stick had remained pressed against the door for some time while using the fireplace and it left a huge dark stain of creosote. After one scrub you could see the difference. Five minutes later everything was impeccable.The glass door always looks like new after cleaning it with Rutland. It changed my life, really! Before that, it was frustrating.Highly recommended!

Outstanding stuff! Cleaned off the most persistent soot on my fireplace insert glass door. Just rubbed a bit with a paper towel and abracadabra! Gone. I still follow up with a clean paper towel and some Windex. This stuff supposedly leaves some kind of silicon coating on the glass which will make it easier to clean, but as far as I can tell it just makes kind of hazy and foggy. Either way, I love it. Will use it on my glass top range next. Inside of the oven door? Yeah! That too probably.

This product works very well .... it's the only one I've used for the last five years on my wood stove window (ceramic glass). If the soot is baked on, leave the product sit on it until it's almost dry then scrub it with a nylon, non-abrasive scrubbing pad.

I love that this product is so easy to apply to a cold wood stove glass. It wipes off creosote very easily with a paper towel- no scraping needed. The one small issue that I found it mist be wiped off the glass immediately after application and it may take 2-4 wipes to really remove it from the glass. If it isn't thoroughly removed, a silty screen covers the glass, sometimes turning black with creosote, then it does burn off. So perhaps it is my wood, but it doesn't remain clear after application as some other removers I have used - unless it is totally wiped off the glass. For my Jotul, it takes minimum of 3 wipe-downs. But all-in-all, this is very good value for the money.

Our wood stove is about 14 years old and have a clear glass window to view the fire through. Before today I would have said, "had" because the glass was so cloudy you couldn't really see the fire anymore, just glowing clouds. Over the years we've tried a few things to clean the glass and I thought it would need new glass or a significant clean and polish.I had watched a video where a guy soaked the glass in acid then used progressive grit and a random orbit sander to polish the glass. Even in that video the final result wasn't perfect.I ordered this expecting to be able to clean the worst of the haze off the upper portion of glass but not what I thought was hard etching on the lower portion of glass where hot ash and coal would build up over long cold snaps.I followed the directions and felt the top clean very easily but saw the cloudiness starting to clear up on the lower portion. I should have taken a before picture because after 15 minutes or so of minimal effort nearly the entire glass was amazingly clear.I probably need another 15-30 minutes of cleaning but I was rushing to get a fire built before it dropped back into the 20s over night so I'll have to do additional cleaning in a couple of days.As it stands, this small investment has made the fireplace look nearly new again already so even if this is the best it gets, I can't think of a time the glass looked this good in the last 10 years.Edit:I remembered I took a photo of the first fire of the season so I cropped it to have a similar comparison. This is not showing just how good the cleaner worked though. The glass was cleaned with a different cleaner so it was in ok condition, not like how it was before cleaning. But it does illustrate how much better this cleaner worked. The top is crystal clear now and there is a light haze in the corner and bottom center in my “after” photo. Will update with a new after photo after getting a little more cleaning action once it warms up.

I have a wood burning stove. I use this cleaner pretty often because I like my glass to be clear. It only takes one good fire for my glass to have at least some soot on it. If I don't burn too much and clean it right away then cleaning the glass is quick and easy. I find it also heavily depends on what type of wood I burn. When I mostly burn Madrone, it's really effective and easy. For oak, and other woods I find that I get a lot tougher soot that is harder to clean off. When I burn several times before cleaning the glass, I find that I need to scrape with a razor blade first to get the tough stuff off. I can then use this cleaner to clean it all up super nice.You can see in the photos how well the glass cleans up. Stove has been used for a season, and you can see how dirty the inside of the doors are and the glass would be if not for being cleaned with this cleaner.
