Bride of the Gorilla (1951) (Restored Edition)

All set in the jungle this one where a worker of a plantation falls in love with the plantation bosses much younger and beautiful wife. But when things turn nasty an old woman with a potent magic plant turns the worker into a gorilla. There you go. Wacky plot but the first half isn't too bad. The problem here is that there isn't any horror and the movie feels more like a love triangle than anything else. Directed by Curt Siodmak. Lead is played by Raymond Burr who does a decent job with what he has and Barbara Payton acts well enough. It's a surprise to see Lon Chaney Jr appear as the local police commissioner, he was going to originally play Burr's role but was seen as too old, so in still placing him in the film he seems a little miscast. Not a terrible film but not good either.
