Thoughts in a Box
Only took 2 dyas to ship 1500 miles from Seller (always a bonus) Is it just me or is "Snail Mail, getting faster?I bought the laptop just for sentimental longing and hating ALL newer laptops from 2008 to present day (weak computers)I looked specifically for a 2007 model that still supported ACPI (which was removed in all windows 10 bios and any future PCThis Computer has all the bells and whistles that the newer ones have left out (due to typical greed and majority rules to move "forward" methods)The Seller had abundantly attached plenty of large and small bubble wrap for the shipping of the product (thanks, I haven't played with that for years) :PI gave the laptop a quick look over and it looked good (even better than listed) took of the battery cover and ram covers, reseated the ram and wrote down the battery number. It had windows XP on it already and the supplyer added all the dell system drivers for that model and version of windows for me (thanks again) saved me some bandwidth.booting took a few moments, typical for and older system. (DOWNLOAD and VIEW IMAGE (Left side))I added a crap load more items, just to make the review and for testing out some tests of my own.The next day I installed Win 7 on it (this morning, at the time of this review)As you can see from the images, they both can be installed.PROS:Windows XP:ACPI friendly SystemNo longer supported by anyone-----"YES! finally no more, Patching it around and 99 more bugs in the code memes"All the software listed no longer supported, but some still get vaild current updates."Anti virus, spybot, spywareblocker" etc-----no more program update to any of the software"either all abandoned, their programmers are dead "JIM", or they too have moved on to "the dreaded Cloud", "Look, the sky really is falling"-----Hint: of the day "block everything with a good firewall, then use a ras-pi as your( firewall/Host file entries/ Intrusion Prevention System) if you absolutly MUST use the internet in XP, Other wise OFFLINE, it would be the most secure system around with all actuall SOFTWARE applications that work, for when the internet is out. "Be the ENVY" of your friends HAHAI added some games, which all worked good, until Fallout 3 and Fallout New Vegas, only low profile and setting options and shutters quite a bit, but if optimized ie,;Turn off all system service you know you dont need or download "black Vipers xp config" and try that.turn off ALL 95% system task scheduling, if it has any. only run as little as possable in startup entries.even a system with this much installed can run adle from 50 - 256 ram, if optimized out. Windows 7 can run 50-128 megs if optimized. (as you can see in image, I left unoptimized for showing. All the software in the lisings in XP work on all Windows XP, Win 7, Win 8, Win 8.1, Win 10 and Win 11Some apps, on Win 10-11 you might have to play with or turn off protection settings until after you install them. Overall it's a decent system for playing around on. for my age, as I am slowing down, the computer and I are a good match, both moderatly old, slow and need upgrades. I don't do all the things I used to do in the last 50 years on PC's, now just watch videos, read news groups, test systems for fun and type up the occasioonal code, html, word doc. so nothing bad about the system really. ALL just personal prefence and needs of the hour.---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------CONS:IN the BIOSThe Computrace(R) and Absolute Software(R) for locating a lost or stolen laptop can not be disable, yet has no password and have the option to disable. So if by some 5 bill to one odds that the origion owner(s) wants theirt laptop back, they can legally take it back with proper papers, wheather or not you bought it online.CPU SPEED: for its day it was good speed, also the model number suggests that it was a "hybrid prototype" which nothing wrong with that, but typically proto's always have issues. This particular model, the processor exicutes 100% processor and hangs, quite a bit, even under "optimized or corrected code" or applications and fixes. Like I said a bit slower and older like me, so these are not necessarya bas thing, if you have the time and patience.

Nice computer that runs my older software.
The computer is obviously used but in nice shape with only minor signs of usage. Everything seems to operating fine and I was able to use some of my older software that does everything I need to do.

Bought this to plays Sims Deluxe Edition
Bought this to play the old sims games instead of trying to figure out how to get them to run on newer computers. It works for what I need and the price for this computer was worth it compared to other brands. I wish the battery lasted longer but I just keep it plugged in when I play. The windows XP is also super nostalgic.
