Gorham 5-piece Column Place Setting, Stainless

I’ve had Gorham Column flatware for over 20 years. Purchased some additional place settings to supplement our flatware and a butter knife broke tonight while cutting a thicker piece of meat. I’ve never seen a clean break like this before, so disappointed!

As far as I’m concerned this is the best flatware out there. It’s balanced and the weight is perfect.I’ve had awfully heavy big unbalanced flatware that has fallen out of cereal bowls because the cereal wasn’t heavy enough to balance the “seesaw”.This is very balanced snd feels good and works great and the style works for any occasion.

I bought this set on Amazon Prime Day for $74.68 from Amazon Warehouse Deals. I needed replacement forks and spoons for the 89-pc I got as a $105 Lightning Deal in 2013. Considering a single spoon costs $10.95, and a 5-pc place setting costs $28, this 45-pc set was a steal!I have used this flatware every day for the past 2 1/2 years. The pieces are durable and shinny. Its simple, elegant design (which looks great with either stoneware or bone rice china) and substantial weight makes the Gorham Column an excellent choice for affordable, high-quality flatware.

I saw one of the reviews mentioned marks on the pieces very soon after purchase. I suspect what they saw was the impression on the back of each piece with the name "Lenox". It is very tiny and could be misread. I am very pleased with this purchase. I like the weight and feel of the pieces, I like that I was able to get some serving pieces with the set, and it looks more like silverplate than stainless. I'll be proud to use it when I have guests.

Arrived in perfect condition. Very nice silverware. The handles are comfortable and well shaped forks and spoon bowls.

I’ve had this set for about a year, but it looks 10 years old. The shiny surface is completely scratched. When I read the prior reviews, I figured that I take good care of things and I wouldn’t have the bad performance. I was wrong. I use silverware separators in the dishwasher, but each piece is scratched. It’s a very pretty pattern, but I wish I’d gotten something else. Very very poor quality, and I’m really disappointed.

I read the Q&A's before purchase and believed the "made in USA" reply made to one inquiry. Its not made in the USA, it's made in Vietnam. I don't know why Amazon can't put country of origin info on every product description to make their customers' lives easier. Outside of that it's not a bad set, definitely better than anything you'd find on the shelf in a brick and mortar mass merchandiser or average department store. It's nice and hefty (18/10) and the finish is very shiny, but if you're looking for stuff made in the US, you'll have to look elsewhere.

This is a beautifully made silverware set. the weight of the pieces is perfect if you like silverware on the slightly heavier end. The details and look is something that is hard to appreciate in a picture. I saw this at macy's for 80 and knew it would be much cheaper online. I bought a single set for travel so that I wouldn't have to use cheap disposable silverware or more commonly when I don't trust the cleanliness of the restaurants silverware as I am a bit paranoid. One thing to remember is this stuff cannot be washed in a dishwasher and must be washed by hand.
