MUST HAVE for smoothie families!! GREAT stainless steel straws.
We make A LOT of smoothies in our home. Our Vitamix gets a serious daily work out and we also go through lots of cups and straws. A friend of mine gave me a big metal straw called a Polar Pipe once and I loved it, but I made the mistake of putting it in the dishwasher once and it was destroyed. I didn't realize it was hand wash only. Well, we're a "throw everything in the dishwasher" family in addition to being a smoothie family so that just wasn't going to fly. I found these and decided to give them a shot and I LOVE them! Not only are the longer than regular landfill clogging, sea creature killing plastic bendy straws (so I can use a big plastic cup and have adequate sipping clearance over the lid of the cup without having to go fishing - see pics) but they are wider too, so I no longer have problems with chunks of frozen banana clogging up the works! NOTHING gets stuck in these straws! They're not so wide though that it's overwhelming to drink out of. Just right in my opinion! It's kinda like the width of a McDonalds straw but a little bigger. You can see my side by side comparison with a regular straw. The regular straw fits inside these and can slide through easily.I also love how the stainless steel helps keep your drink icy cold all the way to your mouth! It's a little thing, but sometimes it's all about the little things, am I right? The best part about these by far is that I can throw them in the dishwasher. I mean, isn't that the best part of any kitchen gadget/utensil?? These don't stain, they don't rust, they don't chip, bend or break and they don't turn colors! Also, some of you might be thinking, "Ew, I don't want my beverage to taste like metal!" but they don't! Don't think it's like sucking on an old spoon because it's not. In fact it's way better than drinking through a plastic straw because there is no BPA or other chemicals involved! For those of you hand washers out there, this pack of straws also comes with a cute and handy little brush for cleaning them! Even though I'm a dishwasher gal, I'm totally keeping this brush by my sink because it could absolutely be used for cleaning all sorts of different things like medicine syringes etc.My one word of caution for those of you who are not used to using metal straws is to BE CAREFUL the first few times, because while the straws won't chip, your teeth will if you attack your beverage like a wolf taking down a caribou. GENTLY people, gently! Once you drink with them a few times, your mouth and face and teeth and tongue will know where to do and you won't find yourself banging your teeth with them every time you take a drink.5 well deserved stars from me on these straws! Hopefully this is helpful for someone else. I did NOT receive this item free or at a discount

Great price for stainless steel straws
I've been using a reusable plastic tumbler with a reusable plastic straw for my cold drinks. I liked that it was reusable and it was big. I liked the feel of the plastic straw. But I felt the plastic was not a good idea - it didn't ever feel clean and I dunno what kind of plastic it is made of.I prefer to drink out of stainless steel for my portable drink containers. So I decided to switch to a stainless tumbler and needed a stainless straw to go along with it so I ordered this set. The straws are on the thin side which is good to fit in the smaller openings in some tumbler lids but you might want a bigger diameter if you prefer that. I drink mostly water, iced tea and sparkling water from mine so nothing bulky needs to pass though the straw. One thing to note that others mention is the straws get cold or hot. But like.. really cold or hot. So if you are used to plastic straws it might be odd. Careful not to burn your lips. Also careful not to slam the straw into your face like you might with a softer plastic straw. It would be unpleasant to bang it on your teeth or your lip. The edge is not sharp it's just hard of course. Some stainless straws come with silicone parts to be softer on the mouth, I dunno. I considered those but maybe simple is best as far as keeping things clean. So far I like these but it is a bit weird to have the really cold cold steel on my lips when I drink an ice cold drink. Not bad, just weird.

Get plastic out of your life. Stainless steel rules!
Love these straws. We're firmly committed to a plastic free lifestyle. We use berkey water filters, stainless steel to go cups, stainless steel ice cube trays, and even stainless steel popsicle molds. These straws are so durable, you can use them for all sorts of things not just straws. I keep one in the garage for long delicate small filter pours. My pal cut his to use as custom exhaust on his gas RC toy truck. They are great for pro spitwad delivery to shock your friends and foes. Comes with nifty scrubber stick and they apparently never rust, even when sitting for days in dirty dishes and water. We're loving these straws, never going back to plastic. Manufacturers recommendation: Would like to see something slightly more kid friendly with rubber tip or something similar to having one side of the straws tip dipped in rubber. They're actually so durable and rigid, that I think it would be nice to have a lip or tooth protector on the tip. However, the ridges are perfect, they're not sharp, well finished and ours had no metal slivers, etc.
