Saddlemen 3503-0055 Drifter Express Tail Bag

The bag is excellent quality and very large. The only issue was it’s to big for a XL883 especially without a sissy bar. Two additions and would have been exactly right. Needs a solid bottom panel and some attachment points on the underside. The Mrs loves it but couldn’t make it work so our search continues for a ridged roll type bag to replace the HD nylon bag she had.

This bag is very roomy yet not as obnoxious as other bags with less storage which maybe taller. Also, the (faux) leather is better suited for my motorcycle (an '02 Harley FXD). You can fit a TON in this bag, I have managed to store a heavy sweatshirt and vest in it at the same time, along with a medicine bag I usually bring on the road (it's about 4IN deep). I have also fit an 18-pack of beer with room to spare! The downside to the bag as many have mentioned, and this is a common problem with many tail bags, the bottom sags, big time. And almost right away. I already knew this from previous experience with tail bags so I glued a quarter inch piece of HDPE board I cut to fit to the bottom of the bag. This improves the bag IMMENSELY! Until Saddlemen addresses and fixes this problem I strongly recommend if you buy this bag to do what I did. The HDPE will not be noticeable when the bag is on your bike and it will make all the difference. You will be disappointed with this bag otherwise.

Fantastic bag, with a lot of space, ample for a long weekend. You can fit an open face helmet and still have room to spare. Looks terrific on my Suzuki c50 (800) and I believe will suit any cruiser. There are plenty of mounting points as advertised although it does need a couple extra bungee straps. The locks are basic (plastic) but do add that extra security. The two side pockets can also be secured with padlocks (not supplied). The leather-grain, marine grade vinyl does not look cheap, in fact it adds to the look of the bike. Honestly, if you can't be bothered purchasing saddlebags, plus mounting brackets or need extra cargo space this will give you loads of storage at a fraction of the cost plus easy mounting in less than a minute. I would highly recommend.

Bottom of the bag ain't firm enough for hd biggest luggage rack. Reinforce the bottom

I needed something besides my two small saddlebags on my Harley Sportster to carry extra gear for camping and road trips. This Saddleman travel trunk fit the bill perfect not to big for my trunk rack its waterproof easy to attatch has a wide Velcro strap to go around passenger backrest and I ran a coupe bungie-straps through the front & rear D-Rings on the trunk for added security.This bag holds a lot of stuff and I like the 2 zippered side pouches with the leather flaps for quick access it also has a nice map pouch inside to store your maps & papers.Awesome product for the money.Note the trunk lid has quick disconnects under the leather buckles when you release them you must then pull the lids side panels outward before opening the trunks lid as they have heavy duty Velcro that secures the lid everytime its closed.

Just received my Saddlemen drifter bag yesterday. Overall, the bag looked great. Very large and roomy. Mounted the bag on my Sportster 1200 sissy bar and luggage rack and immediately noticed the bottom is too soft and bag was sagging. Fixed that issue by mounting a piece of 1/4 inch plywood to the luggage rack cut to the dimensions of the bag and drilling a few holes in the plywood and zip tying to the luggage rack. Bag is now sturdy on the bottom with this support. Sissy bar strap and d-ring straps were used to secure bag onto the plywood. I'd give this bag a higher rating, but bottom is too soft and it's hard to open bag once mounted because sissy bar gets in the way. Overall, still a good purchase, and price was right.

The Drifter Express tail bag is rather large, but still very stylish. It compliments the Saddlemen Drifter Saddlebags. There's plenty of room to store your goods for traveling or shopping. I didn't use the Versa Mount system. The bags sits nicely and is easily strapped to the luggage rack. A definite thumbs up recommendation.

Looking for a tail bag for my Triumph Bonneville. This arrived, was a little larger than I expected, but now I can't live without. Bag is capacious, great looking (considering its not real leather) and extremely versatile. Many ways to mount. Is too tall to be used as designed with Triumph sissy bar (which is rather low) but perfect for taller backrests. Also works REALLY well when used with my wife's "Love Handle" Armrests.
