NovaPJSN PowerGrip Wood Lathe Chuck Jaw Set, Compatable only with Nova Chucks

The jaws arrived quickly and worked fine .

These jaws are perfectly suited for large stock such as heavy bowls. The depth of the Jaws and the ridges provided really hold on to your tenon.

Quality on par with other Nova products I've used.

The power grip jaws are great. I use this on my SuperNova2 chuck. It has the regular dovetail shape on the jaws for holding a recess in the bottom of a bowl or platter, but it also has lines/grooves deeper in. These are for holding just about any chunk of whatever you want to shove in there. Whole branches or whatever can be gripped pretty tightly with these jaws for turning on the lathe. That's a time saver against having to more carefully prepare the spindle. And the hold is very strong.The dovetail profile is big, too. Bigger/deeper than some of the other jaws I have, so that means I can use a deeper recess, which is what I would want on a large size bowl anyway, for safety. So I guess this is just made to handle the bigger stuff.It's not foolproof, and woodturning is always going to be somewhat dangerous. You have to take responsibility to use the right jaws and the right chuck for your piece, and accept that there is some risk of wood coming out of the chuck or otherwise coming loose no matter what you do. That's the responsibility you take when you turn wood on a lathe.

Nova makes good stuff and this jaw set is no exception. I have mounted them on my chuck and they fit OK but not quite as well as I expected. This should not effect their performance. I have not actually chucked up a project in them as yet but I don't anticipate any problems.

powerful: gets any job you can grab them with done. worth the cash if u need to guarantee a solid, unyielding grip in both spigot and expansion

These work great - Hold well and are easy enough to get on and off of the chuck. It is time consuming though to change the Jaws - i'm thinking of getting another super nova chuck so that I can have two with different set-ups at all times.
