Spectrum Shortening, 100% Vegetable, Organic, 24 oz

Great product! I love making frosting with this, it has no discernible taste and the texture is very fluffy. It’s also great in pastries and biscuits. I wish it were sold in larger containers. These are tiny.I highly recommend!

Tried this off a recommendation of this (or two other brands) by a cake artist that is kind of a guru at buttercream flowers (ABC) this stuff has no flavor, gives a beautiful creamy mouth feel without being oily or waxy. My buttercream has never been better. I wish I had found this stuff years ago. I do wish I could find it in much larger quantities like a 50lb or 100lb tub because using 5 containers feels like a lot of wasted plastic (I do recycle them). This is THE secret weapon for a beautiful crusting ABC that does not wilt or weep. Also it takes color very well (gel, powdered, or oil based all).

I'm using this product at my shop to make a Gluten-Friendly, Dairy-Free Frosting. For my trial pastry I'm using 4 oz of Shortening, 6 oz of GF Powdered Sugar, 1.5 oz of Irish Cream Syrup, and .5 oz Oat Milk. It makes a light and creamy frosting that isn't overly rich. I was told it's the perfect balance to the chocolate muffin it tops. Easy to use and shelf stable plus dairy free. This is perfect!

Definitely my 'go to' shortening for bread making. Short crust pastry turns out well but I still use butter for puff pastry recipes.

One of the 4 containers was dented near the top so it was not sealed. The box was well packed so it must have been shipped damaged. Even with just 3 containers, it was less expensive than purchasing it here in Alaska. I will try the damaged one to make sure it has not gone bad.

Use a lot for dairy free butter for baking. Also great for frying

This is HANDS DOWN my favorite shortening to use. I use this when I make pies. Where I live the two local store that Carrie’s it have stopped carrying it. I have had to order it. I am hoping that it doesn’t end up a discontinued product. Because it really is the best one out there. I have tried other natural and non hydrogenated shortening but they just do not come close to spectrum. Even though it can be a pain to have to order online to get it I will keep ordering it. It doesn’t give my Crust a funny flavor. I get nice flaky crust every time I use it.

I have purchased many Spectrum brand oils before and never really realized that they had palm oil. Not that I love palm oil, but my famous chocolate chip cookie recipe has that ingredient in it and for years I always purchased the Nutiva brand, but it has been discontinued. I was in a bit of a panic and then realized this is on the market and I think it may be better than the Nutiva one.
