Planet Waves D'Addario Acoustic Guitar Humidifier Pro

When I got the first one from the guitar store, the worker told me that I would have to check and rinse the sponge inside every few days. I thought that that was a little ridiculous but when I went home and rinsed it, it did in fact only last a few days. He did tell me its high density foam and when you get it its very hard.Refusing to accept that I would have to be a slave to this device, I explored my mind of experiences with sponges and I remembered those dinosaur capsules that you would grow at home. They required hot water to grow properly and expand the compressed sponge. I proceeded to boil up some water and threw the white sponge in a coffee cup with a spoon on top to keep it from floating. It bubbled away and after a few minutes some areas of the sponge became soft. I proceeded to pinch and squeeze the harder areas underwater to work the water into the sponge completely.This change of using hot water has made the sponge last from from 1-3 days to 1-3 weeks! I do recommend using boiling water to prevent any chance of microbial growth!Hope this helps and rock on!

Cumple muy bien su función, a diferencia de la versión normal, el material es de mucha mejor calidad, además de tener una tapa de goma que es mucho mas conveniente que la tapa de plástico que llega a romperse con suma facilidad. Al principio me llamo la atención que la esponja no tomara nada de humedad, pero después de unos minutos en el agua la absorbió bastante bien, además de mantener con buena humedad la guitarra por lo menos 5 días

I've used a couple different humidifiers, and this is the one I prefer. Yes, complainers, the sponge comes out of the package hard as a rock, and requires soaking for a couple hours the first time. So what? It WILL become a normal wet sponge, I promise.Holds a lot of water, which means it lasts longer. Sturdy, easy in and out of the guitar strings, easy to refill, etc. etc. Excellent product, cheap, just get it and use it. The Oasis might do a better job humidifying, maybe -- I have no way of comparing -- but it's more fuss and muss to use, and it's twice the price. I have four D'Addario pros -- two each for my two acoustics. I just drop 'em in, loose, on both sides of the strings, and they stay put just fine.Oh, and get a gallon of distilled water (not spring water). It's less than a buck, and it'll last for ages.
