i currently have a t-mobile samsung galaxy s7 can i just transfer the sim card or do i need to go to a t-mobile store to activate?

It's unlocked for any carrier. Power off, insert sim and power on. The phone will update your info from sim automatically. May see a buffer twirl and the phone will auto restart and you're good to go. To check, go to settings, about phone and should see your number. Go to sim status(in settings) everything should show connected and in service. Go back to settings, tap connections, scroll for mobile, and look for APN (Access Point Name), may have to tap advanced, and should see TMobile. Then make a quick call to someone to make sure you can connect. Send a message to see if it's received. Cut off your WiFi, you should see LTE where your battery symbol and bar lines are.
I had two prepaid phones, each with a different number but both on Verizon. I could swap sims and sim data, with respective number would transfer from phone to phone. Even if you have one phone and buy another, as long as both phones are on the same network carrier, it's an easy swap. The problem is when you go from one carrier to another and want to take your 1000.00, or close to it, phone with you, your phone has to be paid for and your bill current to go through the hassle of an unlock code. By law, with your phone paid for and your bill current, it has to be honored. The very first time you power on with a different carrier sim, it will ask for an unlock code. Be careful because you only get about 5 attempts to enter the correct unlock code before it is permanently locked to the carrier. Never happened to me, transmission was smooth, so I can't say if the carrier can give you another code or if you're shackled to them. So, I prefer factory unlocked from the start, even for a little more money.

Im seeing barying results saying it works in att, but doesnt work with verizon. some say otherwise. so which one really is it? is this cdma? or gsm?

Why is the seller saying on here that it will not work it's only a GSM unlocked phone for? I read other questions on here and the seller is telling people that it will work with any carrier it's fully factory unlocked. When I read under features it says it's fully unlocked and can be used with any carrier of your choosing. Then when I look up under details for this phone it will say under service provider ( all carrier's) so there must be more than one phone people are asking questions about. I wish we could post pictures
