ACDelco Professional 252-707 Water Pump Kit

I tried for two days tying to get this out on, but it kept slipping on me and after busting my knuckles, I said, "forget it, I'm getting my pneumatic impact wrench!" Now I was sure to be careful using the impact, but I went slow and sure enough, I got it on there and it's working great. So, if you are having the same problem, just go slow and careful. Otherwise I think you'll need another tool to hold this one. At least that's what I saw in all the videos I watched.

Hard to install. Buy good tool.

I wish I would have read the other reviews before trying to install this! As stated elsewhere, the instructions (and some YouTube sources) say the locating tab needs to go at 7 o'clock, may be true in some Northstars but in a '97 Eldo it goes at 1 o'clock. Even after discovering that I could not get it to turn in and lock. Finally compared it to my old pump and noticed that one of the ears was bent too far; bent it back with a pair of pliers and it went in as smooth as anything.This is not the first Northstar water pump I have done but definitely the most frustrating and time-consuming mainly because of problems with the instructions and construction.It is not leaking, hopefully it won't die prematurely as was the experience of other reviewers. Will update if it does.

2003 Oldsmobile Aurora Northstar (Cadillac) motor. Water pump was leaking, ordered this replacement AC Delco pump, along with the belt, add'l housing gasket & thermostat, The pump comes with 1 "O" ring gasket, but you still need the housing cover gasket, not supplied. A special socket is needed & can be rented from a local parts store. I got mine from O'rlieys & charged me $30, but the $30 was returned when I returned the socket. About an hour os so to replace. Use grease to hold the "O" ring gasket to the housing.Oh yea, 1 other thing.VERY IMPORTANT>>>>>>>>The water pump has to be positioned correctly, look closely @ the instructions. You cant just throw it into the hole & try to tighten it. There is an alignment spot on the pump itself.<<<<<<< Watch the youtube replacement videos for assistance.Have fun!

Installed on my 98' Eldorado to see if that was the cause of overheating...NOPE! It's the darn intake gasket that haunted me the whole time I owned the car. I was waiting for it to blow after all the horror stories I've heard about these early Northstar engines. I believe after 2001 they were a little less prone to popping but I'm not 100% sure. This water pump was easy installation & looked to be good quality. Sold the car as most shops wanted $2,000 to fix. Please rate my review's 5 Star's if you've found them helpful.

Larger impeller, taller in size and with better fins, this IS THE PUMP to get. Make sure to get a quality install tool that has the wrench and hold down bracket!! Do not buy just the socket with no hold down unless the engine is out of the car

No problems with the water pump itself. However, the instructions state that the 'locking tab' (there's one that is different than the rest and has a half circular notch) needs to be in the 7 o'clock position. The figure also shows the tab going in the 7 o'clock position. However, on my car the tab goes in the 1 o'clock position. The photo shows the little 'nub' (upper right) that fits into the notch.
