Everything you ever wanted to know about ladybugs— and why they're crucial to our environment. When you think of a ladybug, you might picture a little red beetle with seven black spots on its back—but did you know there are thousands of types of ladybugs, spread across the world? With her signature combination of simple text, clear illustrations, and simple diagrams, Gail Gibbons explores the world of ladybugs. These small beetles live on six of the seven continents, ranging in size, markings, and coloration. Follow a ladybug through the four stages of its development from egg to adult, and learn about its behavior and habitat—plus, how little ladybugs help protect crops by eating harmful insects. Bright illustrations and an easy-to-read text make this ideal for young readers studying the natural world. A page of quick ladybug facts and resources for learning more are included. Love this book
We have had this book for many years. I've bought it for numerous friends kids. I think it is absolutely the best for education on lady birds. Highly suggest the hardcover version for durability.

This was perfect for our life cycles unit in first grade
This was perfect for our life cycles unit in first grade. This book has the beautiful illustrations and scientific vocabulary I love in Gail Gibbons' books. This book had the most detailed information about ladybugs of any that I read to my class. I bought this to go along with "Ladybug Land" from Insect Lore.

I purchased this book as a companion to the Ladybug Land kit. My daughters (ages 9 and 5) loved reading the book and learning all about how a ladybug develops and then witnessing it all in real life with REAL, LIVE ladybugs! Easy to understand information and very nice illustrations.

Labugs
I used this in my science unit on insects. Gail Gibbons has not failed me yet with her accurate information and colorful pictures. I have used several of her books in the past. The second grade class loved the story told using correct information. This helped them study and observe real ladybugs in our observation tank. This is a good book for school or just getting children interested in insects.

Fabulous
Gail Gibbons’ books are just fantastic for the primary classroom. I have almost every animal book she has written. I teach K and the books can be a bit wordy for that age but you can always read the book over a couple of days. I just love the life-cycle pictures and all of the facts. Her books are such great, complete learning tools!
