Air King AK917 Bulb Heater, Single Exhaust Fans, Medium, White

Purchased this to replace a similar old one. It was easy to install and does the job it is designed to do. Quiet fan.

I really like this product. In my opinion its quiet enough. It's no noisier than to $250.00 setup I have in my main bath. My installation will go against the grain of some but for me it works perfectly. In my situation the fan is three and a half feet from my outside wall. My ceiling/Floor joist are 2x10. I opted to drill 3" ( in my state you can cut holes up to 33% of the joist width) holes through two of the joists and the outside wall. I ran 2" ABS connected to a 4x2 ABS coupler. I opted to run a new 20amp circuit from the service panel. Couple the fan to a Three-Function Wall switch and you'll have a nice setup.

The heating light is good, although not as much heat as I expected. But the main problem I think is the noise coming out from the vent part. Otherwise I would have given it a 5-star.

I have both a Broan 164 2-Bulb Ventilation Heater Bath Fan with Lights and an Air King AK927 Heater and Exhaust fan 2-bulb.They are almost identical. Both have same function and sound.The Air King has rings molded into the plastic cover around the heat bulb openings, the Broan does not have this.The cover of the Air King is white with a suttle hue of red or pink, not sure why but it looks good. The Broan cover was basically pure white.The internals look similar are similar but work a bit different as far as the preventing overheating of the unit.The Air King model prevents overheating (when using the heat bulbs) by turning on the fan.The Broan model prevents overheating (when using heat bulbs) by turning off the heat lamps.Both models only do this (go into overheat prevention mode) when using oversized heat lamp bulbs (375 watt as opposed to 250 watts).Both have exhaust fans that work adequately.I prefer the Air King. It works perfect for what I need it for.

Very simple unit that can be wired such that a separate switch operates the fan and the light. Metal casing and mounting brackets have a few sharp edges, but otherwise very pleased with the build quality. Used this to replace an old Broan unit and it fits like a glove. Fan is fairly quiet at 4 sones and moves plenty of air at 70 cubic feet per minute. Would like to see the vendor sell additional face plates so I could change the look, but the white cover included looks great and I'm betting one could paint it if need be. I'm buying a second one for my other bathroom.

I thought this thing would warm up bathroom but only (barley) warms area directly underneath the lamp. Maybe the red lights work better?

Easy to install and wire up. Was about 1/2” shorter then the broam one I replaced so used some aluminum tape to seal in the tiny gap from above. Quiet and just works. No more foggy mirrors after the shower.

Purchased to replace an old similar bathroom fan with heat lamp. The first one I ordered came with broken rivets that hold on the fan housing, should be made stronger. The Amazon replacement arrived quickly and undamaged. This unit can only be installed by accessing above the finished ceiling, the fan housing will not go through the advised cut out opening size. So this unit is not a replacement for an existing bathroom fan if you cannot get above the ceiling to install. Loud fan but does the job and the heat lamp does give off a fair amount of heat directly below the lamp. I wired the fan and heat lamp on separate switches for both fan and heat options.
