It's as good as you've heard it was
I love this fan.I replaced a non-fan roof vent with this item, and we LOVE the results. The tinted cover looks sharp, and the fan works like a charm. It's quiet, but it moves an incredible amount of air. We love the reverse feature to create air movement. We didn't get to use this during the hottest part of the camping season, but based on how much air it moves, I expect that it would allow you to skimp on the AC, and still endure the heat. Just open a window on the other side of the trailer, and it really gets the air moving.I added a Maxx-Air 850 vent cover, and it still gives this fan PLENTY of air volume to work with. If you DON'T include a cover, you'll love how the tinted cover looks on your roof (assuming you can even see it...).One word of caution - a friend of mine put one of these in his bathroom. BE SURE to keep the vent OFF (!!!) when you flush. It's SO powerful, it will reach right down and pull the air (and odors...) from somewhere where you don't want them to be pulled from. The people camping in the NEXT site over had to cover their noses...no joke.Great fan. Really powerful. You'll love it.

Very good upgrade for ventilation
Purchased this vent-fan back in the early fall of 2011.Pluses: It is much better than original equipment vent fans in air movement and apparent quality. This model (4000R) has all the features I wanted (generally simple design with multiple speed fan and reversible motor). Fan blade is larger and sturdier than original equipment and moves air much better.Minuses: Fan was not too well padded in shipping box and it was apparent that I was not the first person who purchased this fan from the vendor as the wire tips were deformed and there was also a minor scuff on the plastic cover indicating prior ownership. The removal and replacement of the old fan with the new fan took me most of a day due to the challenge of removing all of the old Dacor and putty gasket sealant on the original vent. That process would be the same, however, for any replacement vent, but might persuade many to consider just replacing the fan blade in an otherwise functional aging fan / vent. The inner frame needs to be trimmed to the proper depth of your RV ceiling. The instructions describe how to do this clearly, but it is a step that was not apparent when I ordered the vent. The open / close mechanism is a bit "herky-jerky" and not as smoothe as the old unit.I tested the fan and open / close mechanism and decided to keep the fan and install it rather than try to get a new one in "mint condition". It has worked fine and no one will be looking at the top of our travel trailer to see the scuff so I am satisfied with the purchase.

Not quiet.
I would not call it 'quiet'. I wouldn`t be comfortable sleeping with the noise this fan makes so the fan expense was a waste for me. Also, think how often you will need a fan. Had I to do it over I would buy the non fan vent and just have a 12 volt fan handy for the occasional hot night and save the money and wiring hassle. The build quality is good though. And when you are wiring it realize that it has a safety switch to prevent it from operating when closed. It was pretty frustrating testing and retesting my wiring until I figured that out.

Truly a fantastic fan!
Purchased this to replace our "standard" vent that was in our RV. I just have one question - for not much more money, why don't RV manufacturers include these?!?!?! Works fantastically (ha!) and pulls air through the RV. It allows you to get a breeze even if there isn't a breeze outside. It is a little loud on full-speed, but no louder than the small fan of the stock unit. I highly suggest purchasing a Maxxair vent to install with this as it will allow you to use the fan even when it is raining! Highly recommended and is a relatively easy install (remove the old vent and in particular, the old putty/sealant, is the hardest part).

Shipped Quickly and Works As Expected
The fantastic fan was an optional feature when I ordered my camper 10 years ago but I skipped on it because I wanted to save a couple of bucks. For the last decade I've spent countless nights in Baja California simmering in my camper while trying to catch a couple hours of sleep. I tried screwing battery powered fans to the ceiling but it was a hassle and I always ended up bumping into them. The fantastic fan is powerful and quiet. My camper has a solar panel to recharge the battery in the morning so power isn't an issue. The reversible switch allows me to blow air on myself while sleeping and ventilate the camper when cooking. Installation is straight forward and I was impressed the quality of the product. I have two vents in the camper and will be ordering a second fan shortly. The product shipped quickly. Enjoy camping in humid areas? If so, spend the cash and upgrade your sleeping experience.

Fan works well. One note, if your RV ...
Fan works well. One note, if your RV has a MAXXair vent installed, leave it off when you install your new fan. The fan cannot push/pull air through the mesh screen/louvers in the vent. Pulled the vent cover off, and there was a massive difference in airflow. Kept it in a storage compartment in case of an emergency if I bust the smoke cover over the fan.

Great Fan
I installed this in my tool trailer, I have a 12 volt electric system with power inverter and solar charger in my trailer, so this was a breeze to hook up. My trailer had an existing roof vent so it was simply take the old vent out, install this fan, and run some wiring. The inside of my trailer stays a lot cooler now than it did before, I leave this running all day, with such a low amp draw my solar charger can keep up with it and not drain the batteries. I also like how it shuts itself off when you close the cover. Great buy and well worth the money.
