Versatile and Good
I no longer bother with tomato sauce or tomato paste—these crushed tomatoes work for whatever I need. TBH, I started buying Colavita because it’s easier to store the boxes in my cupboard than cans. Now I’m a fan of the texture and flavor.

Colavita Crushed Tomato
Since buying these little boxes of bright tomatoey goodness I have stopped eating out as much. I'm not a great Italian chef but with these Colavita boxes, I would put my sauce next to almost any Italian restaurant. I highly recommend them for the taste alone but I also love them because there is no tin taste and the size is perfect for me and my family.

Better Than Expected
This is perfect for me. One box provides a full meal's worth of pasta sauce. It tastes so good because this container starts you out with better quality tomatoes with better flavor than those used in mass-market prepared sauce. But it takes a little extra work. You have to cook this a bit, and you have to add ingredients. I added some fresh garlic using a garlic press, some olive oil, some sherry, and some spices (basil and/or oregano), some salt, and some pepper, and sauteed it for around 20 minutes. Amazingly good compared to what comes out of most jars. You can also add protein to it, or convert it into a poor man's Puttanesca sauce by adding chopped kalamata olives and some capers, plus a little canned tuna (the anchovies are too much work for me).

love that its in a box not a can
great taste, and the tomatoes are from italy.. the EU doesn't allow crops to be sprayed with Round-Up (at least not the last time i checked. ummm should update my search i suppose). i have a friend who hammered at me 24/7 to avoid food sprayed with it (i try). i gave an overall 4 star because the contents did seem 'watery'.. BUT the box is easy to open (rip the carton, don't need sissors) the product easy to store, (left them right in their cardboad carrying box.. got a dozen) AND as acid reacts with metal, and the container is NOT metal, the tomatoes are 'fresher' to my taste. yes, i might be just my imagination, but.. hey, its MY imagination !! haha enjoy... especially if you stock up your larder like i do..

The only "canned" tomatoes I buy.
I buy a package of these tomatoes regularly. I grow my own basil and make all my pasta sauce from scratch, so why would I want to ruin the flavor with overly salted, yucky American canned tomatoes? The taste is FAR FAR superior to what you can get in a store (I can't get these in the store). All you get is pure, ripe tomato taste, no salt, no preservatives, and bright bright red. After using this, I won't go back.UPDATE: Still buying these. Not only is Colavita fantastic tasting in all kinds of cooked dishes (superior to anything else I've ever gotten out of a can) this make wonderful homemade Mexican salsa! Here's my recipe for half a gallon! 4 boxes of Colavita crushed tomatoes. One large sweet onion, diced. One large clove of garlic, crushed. Juice of one fresh lime, and a whole head of cilantro, washed and chopped fine. Mix, salt to taste with kosher salt. Store in jars and refrigerate. Keeps up to a week, if it lasts that long. I'll never use fresh tomatoes again. Store-bought tomatoes are tasteless compared to Colavita boxed.

Nice and thick
I loved these tomatoes. When I cut the box open which I like because there’s no tin taste like when you buy the ones in the can, the tomatoes were thick in juice. I made Italian green peppers and onions and sausage with my first container, which was I think 13.5 ounces, and they tasted delicious. I like good quality things when it comes to cooking and I think I shall be sticking to these Crushed tomatoes. I also bought diced tomatoes and have not used them yet but I’m sure I will get the same result. Very tasty.

Great alternative to canned tomatoes
Seeing in my account that I've now ordered this product five times, I figured I should write a review. That previous sentence is obviously a ringing endorsement... five 16-packs!I love these for pizza made in my Ooni, but they are also good for other style pizza as well: pureed with some garlic for a change, or cooked with herbs for a NY-style pizza sauce. Today, they were a bright, delicious addition to a coconut lentil soup. And the are great for tomato soup.Plus, of course, no plasticizer can lining! I'm hooked, I hope they will always be available, particularly available for around $20, which makes them a great value, and not the $50-$60 nonsense that happens periodically that makes me wish I had bought more the previous time because now I may run out waiting for the price to settle back down!
