Honeywell HZ-510E Heavy Duty Fan Heater

It looks just as good in real life as it does in the picture and as soon as you take it out of the box you can tell it is of high build quality.The Honeywell HZ-510E gets up to temperature almost instantly with a three way switch that has settings "Off", "1100 Watts (Warm)" and "1800 Watts (Hot)". Personally, I would have liked to have seen a passive fan mode with no heating, I would have also liked to have seen a couple different fan speeds, but unfortunately there is only one speed.On the hot setting, the heat sensitive symbol on the front will change to a bright red to let you know that the front of the unit is now hot, another thing to note, is that even on the hottest setting the units sides stays cool which is nice also there is no "heater glow". Within about 10 minutes my small bedroom is noticeably warmer. The front legs of the unit raise up via the lever on the side by an inch or two, with nice grippy rubber feet, I haven't tested the "tip over" feature, but unless you kicked this thing full pelt, I don't see it falling over anyway!The thermostat on the top next to the 'heat' setting works well, you can hear an audible 'click' when you reach the current room temperature, push it a tad above that and it will keep the room at that temp. I personally would have liked to see numbers on the thermostat dial to get a rough idea of the temperatures it reaches, or a small digital display that shows the current room temp and target temp would have worked wonders, but I suppose you can't have everything! The handle on the top is also very robust and comfortable to hold, the unit itself is also very light.I will update this review after I have used it when camping.Overall I would recommend this product, ideally for small to medium rooms, a larger room would likely take too long to heat up and thus a larger heater would likely be appropriate.

This is a very retro looking unit and certainly looks better than my older, yet extremely sturdy model. The controls are fairly self explanatory and the front leg height can be user adjusted by means of a small dial on the side of the heater. Whilst this is a very useful feature, the dial itself has a very weak lock so just pressing on the top will force it back into the default height.On the front of the heater is a black circle that goes red when heated. I suppose for those with hearing issues this is a neat feature, especially since it is not terribly loud, almost the same as a noisy computer but not a fan heater.In terms of heat, it kicks out a fair amount on the highest setting, certainly enough to heat a decent sized room. In my estimation it would be perfect for the average double bedroom but not so good in a very large room.The overall build quality is good, although some bits let it down, such as the plastic legs and buttons. At this price point you expect more than just a basic heater, and whilst this gives some very good heat at low noise volume these little details are quite annoying. Having said that, I still feel 5 stars a fair review taking into consideration the overall build quality and function.

Purchased this heater to mainly use in a 35sq metre photography studio who's central heating radiator is underpowered to heat the room, but also to use in smaller rooms with no heating at all. My criteria for purchasing was that it had to be thermostatically controlled, portable, efficient and look good. The retro styling of the heater is something I liked, it's quite industrial looking, looks expensive and has character. Have been using this heater since the beginning of November 2016.What I like about the Honeywell HZ-510E...• The thermostat works well and does indeed switch the unit off and on.• Aesthetics and ergonomics are great.• Easy to carry with a large rubberised handle.• It has overheat and tip over protection, having said that it just feels solid and safe.• It has a 3 year warranty.Room for improvement…• Personally I think the unit could be a little quieter, but it's perfectly acceptable.• The control knobs are chromed plastic, would like to have seen a better quality feel and a more weightier resistive feel when turning the dials.• Would be nice to see a visual display i.e. temperature setting, Kwh usage etc.Overall very happy with purchase.

Was going camping and one of our family group, for medical reasons could feel the cold more than most. Not ideal. The very successful solution to this conundrum was this gem of a thermostatically controlled heater that, plugged in to the electric site provision( yes, tents can have electric supplies!) , kept the tent living area beautifully cosy during some rather chilly weather.The shape and size made it ideal for carrying and stability and the two heat settings perfectly adequate. Adjustable height front feet meant that the airflow could be directed where required.Build quality seems good although we initially had an intermiittent problem with the thermostat . Amazon however replaced it within 24 hours and the second has performed flawlessly now for some months.Back from camping, it is also good looking enough ( in a powder coated industrial way) to use as a back up heater in the conservatory.Easily recommended.

I'd bought this to replace a 'dangerous' DeLonghi fan heater that melted the plug socket. Had this for a week and it worked perfectly. It was much quieter and heated the space (converted garage into office - 21m2) much more efficiently than the more highly powered DeLonghi (3KW). However after one week's operation - not every day - it has developed a very annoying rattle whichever way it is placed. So now it is very noisy. Hopefully this is just a one-off fault so I'm getting a replacement to see how that turns out. If the replacement does not have this problem this would be a five star rating.
